About The Role

Signals is YipitDatas B2B spend analytics platform for private equity and growth investors — helping them track software adoption, revenue, retention, switching, and competitive dynamics across thousands of companies. Were looking for a Tech Lead to own the technical direction of the Signals engineering team and drive the next phase of the product forward.

This is a hands-on leadership role. Youll set the technical vision, make architecture decisions, and write code — while also unblocking your team, raising the engineering bar, and working directly with product, data, and revenue stakeholders to shape what gets built. Youll lead a small, high-output team of engineers and QA, and be the person accountable for the quality, reliability, and velocity of everything the Signals team ships.

Youll be responsible for production-grade systems that customers and internal teams depend on daily. That means being responsive, reliable, and an excellent communicator — both when things are going well and especially when theyre not.

The ideal candidate has led engineering teams before, treats AI coding tools as core infrastructure for how they work, and has a track record of shipping products that customers love — not just features that meet specs.

This is a remote-friendly opportunity that can sit in NYC (where our headquarters are located), one of our office hubs (Austin, Miami, or Mountain View), or anywhere else in the US. However, depending upon where the remote work is performed, income could be subject to New York State tax withholding.

 

As a Tech Lead, You Will

• Own the technical direction of the Signals platform — architecture, system design, tech debt strategy, and engineering standards
• Lead a team of engineers and QA — set priorities, unblock work, conduct code reviews, and drive execution
• Stay hands-on: youre writing code, shipping features, and debugging production issues alongside your team
• Work directly with product, data, revenue, and customers to translate business problems into a technical roadmap
• Make the calls on build vs. buy, tradeoffs between speed and quality, and when to invest in infrastructure vs. features
• Own production reliability — youre the first person who cares when something breaks, and you drive the team to fix it fast and prevent it from happening again
• Raise the bar for the engineering team through mentorship, tooling improvements, and establishing best practices
• Use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) as a daily force multiplier for yourself and your team — and push the team to adopt AI-native workflows that accelerate output

 

You Are Likely To Succeed If

• You have 6+ years of hands-on software development experience with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role — leading teams, making architecture decisions, and owning delivery
• You have shipped and maintained customer-facing SaaS products — you understand what it takes to build software that real users depend on
• You have strong system design instincts — you know how to architect systems, define clean interfaces, and make decisions that hold up as complexity grows
• You are stack-flexible: comfortable working across Python, TypeScript/React, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Databricks). You learn new tools fast and dont let unfamiliar tech slow you down
• You have an AI-native workflow — you dont just use AI tools, youve fundamentally changed how you and your team work because of them
• You can context-switch between writing code, unblocking a teammate, and presenting a technical tradeoff to a non-technical stakeholder — all in the same day
• You are responsive and reliable — you take ownership of production systems and communicate proactively, especially under pressure
• You lead by example — your team follows your standard because they see you hold yourself to it first
• You hold a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related technical discipline

• The annual on-target earnings for this position is anticipated to be up to $200K - $230K. The final offer may be determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the applicants experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal team benchmarks

 

This role may be performed fully remotely within the United States. Please note that our US headquarters are located in NYC. We also have office hubs in Austin, Miami, and Mountain View. If the remote work is performed outside of these offices, income may be subject to New York State tax withholding.
