Watershed is the enterprise sustainability platform. Companies like Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa, and Dr. Martens use Watershed to manage climate and ESG data, produce audit-ready metrics for voluntary and regulatory reporting including CSRD, and drive real decarbonization. The role

We are looking for a team member who is excited to do everything involved in shipping great products, including hands-on engineering, talking with customers, mastering the climate domain, and setting direction for the company. You will be joining as an early member of the team that will shape everything that comes next at Watershed. Your past experience should include a track record of building things that users love.

Youll work on building APIs, data models, and pipelines that make sustainability data clear, accessible, and actionable for our customers. Youll contribute across the stack as needed—from backend systems to frontend interfaces (React, TypeScript)—to deliver complete customer experiences. Our stack includes Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, and modern cloud infrastructure. Theres no need to be a prior expert in our stack — its more important that youre good at picking up technologies quickly.

What you could work on:

• Build new interactive data visualizations to help climate leads understand their companys emissions.

• Build APIs to unify carbon data access for customers and other engineers.

• Build data pipelines that help financial institutions measure and report emissions across their portfolio companies.

• Build tools for customers to effectively ingest and interpret business data.

You will:

• Ship code to production on day one

• Collaborate with product, design, climate science, and data science to build and iterate on software that helps our customers understand their climate data

You might be a fit if you:

• Have 3+ years of software engineering industry experience, preferably in Node.js web development or data pipelines

• Have experience building scalable software starting from user needs

• Are excited to join a startup and are ready to help evolve a growing engineering team

Must be willing to work from an office 4 days per week (except for remote roles)

Watershed has hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City and satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, and Berlin. Where we have offices, employees are expected to be in office for 4 days per week. Certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description if so.

What’s the interview process like?

It starts the same for every candidate: getting to know the team members through 1 to 2 conversations about Watershed, your experience, and your interests. Next steps can vary by role, but usual next steps are a skill or experience interview (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in person interview panel.
