INGENIOUS.BUILD is building the operating system for construction and real estate development. We work with some of the largest organizations in the world, and the features our engineers build help teams manage some of the biggest investments being made today. If we succeed, a large share of the worlds important infrastructure will be planned, built, and reported on through our platform.

Were a product-driven engineering organization. Engineers here dont just take tickets. They understand the customer, challenge proposed solutions, and shape what gets built. Were also going all-in on AI. We treat it as a way to deliver more value to customers, not just to write code faster.

About the role

Were looking for a Developer Team Lead to lead one of our web product teams. This is a small, senior, highly autonomous team. You wont be supervising juniors. Youll be a partner to experienced engineers: bringing the team together, building the right processes, and keeping the team efficient, aligned, and focused on the right problems.

The role combines hands-on engineering and leadership. Youll write code, make architectural decisions, and lead the teams AI adoption, while also owning people management, planning, and prioritization. Youll report directly to the Engineering Director. Youll work closely with a Product Manager and a dedicated Product Designer, and alongside other team leads and our DevOps team.

What youll do

Lead the team

• Run regular 1:1s, monitor performance, and support each engineers growth, including compensation and career conversations.
• Own the teams high-level planning and prioritization, together with Product and Design.
• Build and improve the processes that keep a senior team synchronized and effective, without adding bureaucracy.
• Take part in hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews.

 

Drive AI adoption

• Lead the AI transformation in your team. Set the pace instead of waiting for it to be defined for you.
• Go beyond basic prompting. Use AI to research unfamiliar systems, identify gaps, automate repetitive work, and speed up delivery.
• Experiment with new tools and workflows, standardize what works, and share it with your team and across engineering.
• Look for ways AI can deliver business value: lower costs, shorter delivery times, higher quality, and solutions that werent practical before.

Build the product

• Stay hands-on: write code, review code, and own the technical direction of your teams modules.
• Make sound architectural decisions in a large modular monolith.
• Use customer insights to challenge solutions, propose improvements, and help decide what to build and in what order.
• Keep improving the codebase by reducing legacy code, adding tests, and keeping dependencies current.

Our tech and engineering approach

• Stack: PHP 8.5, Laravel 13, PostgreSQL
• Architecture: a large modular monolith. Modules communicate through facades, adapters, or events, which keeps boundaries clear. More complex modules use DDD.
• Philosophy: code thats easy to test and reason about. Business logic lives in clear PHP classes, separate from the framework, with no magic.
• Quality: pipelines with PHPStan, PHPCS, and unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, all supporting automatic deployments. DevOps owns infrastructure, so you can focus on building.
• AI tooling: Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and whatever else helps us move faster. We revisit our tools regularly because they improve quickly.

What were looking for

Must-haves

• People management experience. Youve already led developers, including 1:1s, performance, and team processes. This isnt a first step into management.
• Strong backend engineering. Advanced PHP 8.1+ with Laravel or Symfony, and experience building large, scalable applications.
• Technical leadership and architecture. Youve led the technical side of complex projects: making design decisions, not just carrying them out.
• Hands-on AI adoption. You already use AI tools in your daily engineering work and are excited to push further. You dont need deep AI expertise, but you do need the energy to lead this.
• Product mindset. You care about the why, think about business impact, and want to shape solutions, not just implement specs.
• Testing. Solid experience with PHPUnit and a good testing strategy across unit, integration, and functional tests.
• English at B2 level or higher.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with modular monoliths (microservices experience also counts)
• Practical experience with Domain-Driven Design
• Background in SaaS, especially large systems like ERP, CRM, or CMS
• Experience in startups or scale-ups where engineers work directly with product decisions
