The Senior Software Engineer II is a senior technical engineer responsible for designing, developing, and delivering the Early Intervention Coordination of Benefits (EI-COB) solution on a high-volume healthcare data-processing platform, along with the related integrations, across hybrid environments (on-premise and cloud). This role combines deep technical software expertise with broad architectural understanding to ensure scalable, secure, and high-performing systems.

 

The ideal candidate will play critical role, leading parts of the technical solution and mentoring other Software Engineers, while working closely with the Leadership and Principal Software Engineer(s), and architects to drive technical and solution innovation. This position requires a deep understanding of software development, software development practices, leadership abilities, and a passion for solving complex technical challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership in a team of Software Engineers, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise.
• Act as a key influencer in technical decision-making and driving architectural improvements.
• Collaborate with Principal Software Engineers, Architects, and Leadership to design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions.
• Drive technical initiatives and projects, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
• Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
• Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other areas for improvement.
• Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continuously enhance the teams capabilities.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team.
• Experience with performance tuning and optimization of large-scale, complex systems.
• Complete all responsibilities as outlined in the annual performance review and/or goal setting. 
• Complete all special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• BS or MS Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of industry experience.
• Must have 4+ years’ Healthcare data experience.
• Proficiency in working with large datasets.
• 5+ years experience with relational databases.
• 5+ years experience working with ETL processes.
• Optimization and tuning of SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
• 5+ years experience with languages: Java or Python.
• 5+ years experience with 3rd party platforms: Appian, Cloudera Hadoop.
• 5+ years experience with databases: Microsoft SQL Server, HBASE, Hive.
• 5+ years experience with web services using Java/Spring Boot.
• Strong knowledge and application of SAFe agile practices, preferred.
• Experience with Apache Kafka / MSK and event-driven messaging architectures.
• AWS or GCP cloud-native stack (EKS/GKE, S3/GCS, EMR/Dataproc).
• Apache Iceberg or open table formats for analytical data storage.
• Experience with PySpark or distributed data processing frameworks (EMR, Dataproc).
• Familiarity with agentic AI patterns — orchestrating multi-step AI workflows, tool use, or LLM-driven decision pipelines in a production context.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

• Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area, if in a remote setting.
• Must have reliable, high-speed internet access / connectivity, office setup and maintenance, if in a remote setting.

Base compensation ranges from $134,000 to $165,000. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
