Job Description

We are seeking a DevOps Engineer to play a crucial role in accelerating our infrastructure evolution. In this role, you will bridge traditional cloud infrastructure with next-generation AI enablement collaborating with software development, operations, and security teams to build highly scalable, secure, and resilient SmartRent solutions. Your expertise in infrastructure automation, deployment strategies, and AIOps will maintain high availability and drive continuous innovation across our smart building and IoT ecosystem.

Prefer a candidate in Phoenix, AZ to report to our HQ, but open to candidates outside of Arizona

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering teams to design, provision, update, and maintain multi-region AWS environments using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to support microservices and business growth. Own and maintain our Terraform module library.
  • Design, build, and maintain Continuous Integration and Delivery (CI/CD) workflows across multiple environments, integrating continuous feedback loops and automated testing for rapid, reliable deployments.
  • Support the infrastructure footprint for smart-building data pipelines, IoT telemetry, and AI/LLM-powered feature rollouts.
  • Implement AIOps, predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and automated alert responses using DataDog (Logs, Metrics, APM) and CloudWatch to optimize system performance, observability, and uptime.
  • Drive self-healing infrastructure, intelligent auto-scaling, cost-optimization strategies, and automated incident response workflows. Implement best practices to create secure, observable, and scalable services.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to handle incident escalations, troubleshoot system outages, and ensure high platform availability. Perform other duties as required.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 2+ years of professional DevOps, Platform, or Cloud Engineering experience.
  • 2+ years of experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) to manage cloud resources.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architecture principles on AWS, GCP, or other cloud computing platforms.
  • Hands-on programming experience (e.g., Python, Go, or similar functional/object-oriented languages).
  • Experience with modern containerization and orchestration tooling (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Collaborative mindset and strong cloud solutions building skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced experience maintaining and automating Terraform module libraries for declarative infrastructure deployments.
  • Deep background in building, securing, and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with AIOps, predictive analytics, and automated telemetry tracking.
