Job Description

Born in Texas in 2003, we own and operate over 30 utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in local communities across the United States, totaling 4 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity.

Job Summary:

The Regional EHS Manager - Operations, within LREs EHS, Quality & Training function, reports to the Director of EHS, Quality & Training and provides strategic safety leadership and oversight for operational plants within an assigned region. As the owners representative, the role partners with regional and site leadership and contractor teams to strengthen safety programs, support OSHA and LRE compliance, analyze leading indicators, coach personnel, and improve safety performance through remote support and frequent plant travel.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic safety leadership and oversight for operational plants in an assigned region.
  • Partner with Regional Directors, Plant Managers, Site Leads, Site Technicians, and contractor teams to implement and maintain effective site-specific safety programs.
  • Communicate safety performance, risks, incidents, and operational needs to regional leadership and the Director of EHS, Quality & Training.
  • Execute LREs safety strategy and Zero Injury principles and analyze leading indicators to drive continuous improvement.
  • Monitor site activities and monthly safety training for compliance with OSHA requirements and LRE rules and policies.
  • Review job safety analyses and site safety plans to strengthen hazard identification and controls.
  • Conduct workplace audits and inspections and track corrective actions through closure.
  • Train and coach personnel on safety expectations and EHS systems including IS Networld, EHS Insight, and The LRE Grid.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, incident reporting, corrective actions, and lessons learned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 6-8 years of progressive experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) management.
  • Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or Safety Management Professional (SMP) certification.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA recordkeeping requirements and strong medical case management skills.
  • Experience with safety incident management software.
  • Strong safety leadership, interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and interact effectively with employees at all levels in an operational environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and the ability to prepare accurate, grammatically correct reports.
  • Commitment to personal responsibility for ones own safety, the safety of others, and LREs Zero Injury principles.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or construction management or civil/electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalent field experience minimum of 6 years renewable energy construction management experience to include knowledge of; civil & electrical construction, PV, wind turbine, and BESS installation techniques.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of contractor management experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in the renewable energy industry.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification.
  • First Aid and/or CPR certification.

Work Environment & Location:

This is a fully remote position within the United States, with a preferred location in Texas or Oklahoma. The role requires 50-75% travel to assigned operational plants as a vehicle driver or passenger using various modes of transportation.

  • Work frequently at operational renewable energy sites, both indoors and outdoors in hot, cold, wet, humid, and dry conditions, with possible prolonged exposure to loud noise and various scents and fragrances.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) frequently to maintain safety and prevent exposure to hazards.
  • Remain in a stationary position regularly and move about to access people, machinery, and workspaces; occasionally position objects, operate tools or controls, and ascend or descend ladders and stairs.
  • Climb wind turbines, including ascending and descending vertical ladders and working at heights while using required fall-protection and rescue equipment for safety investigations.
  • Move up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Use close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus; regularly view computer monitors and other electronic devices and communicate effectively at sites and while completing assigned duties.
