Engineering Manager, Search Infrastructure

In this role, you’ll lead a team responsible for critical search platform capabilities that underpin performance, reliability, and scale.

• Set technical and execution direction for a team working on large-scale search infrastructure.

• Partner with senior engineers, product, and adjacent platform teams to define roadmaps, manage trade-offs, and deliver durable platform improvements.

• Lead through incident readiness, operational reviews, capacity planning, and architecture decisions for high-availability systems.

• Hire, coach, and develop engineers and managers, creating clarity, accountability, and growth across the team.

• Improve engineering effectiveness by strengthening planning, prioritization, technical design, and delivery rhythms.

Requirements:

• Proven experience leading high-performing engineering teams that build and operate large-scale distributed systems.

• Demonstrated success managing senior engineers and driving delivery in complex, cross-team environments. Experience growing staff-level technical leadership and beyond.

• Strong technical judgment in areas such as reliability, performance, scalability, observability, and system design. Ability to influence architecture and engineering standards beyond the immediate team.

• Experience operating business-critical services with clear ownership of availability, incident response, and operational health.

• Ability to translate broad organizational goals into clear team priorities, execution plans, and measurable outcomes. Experience managing through technical ambiguity, organizational change, or evolving team charters.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, especially with senior technical and organizational leaders.

Strongly Preferred:

• Experience with search infrastructure, indexing systems, large-scale data pipelines for search/ML, storage engines, or low-latency retrieval systems.

• Track record of leading platform teams that serve many internal customers and balance roadmap work with reliability investment.
