Junior Editor

This is a paid freelance remote position

The role

We’re looking for a sharp, reliable Junior Editor to help us publish high-quality content at scale.

You’ll review articles before publication, making sure they are accurate, polished, engaging, and optimized for search.

This is a high-volume editing role for someone who is fast, meticulous, and takes pride in getting the details right.

What You’ll Do

• Edit and proofread articles before publication.
• Fix grammar, spelling, structure, and readability issues.
• Fact-check names, dates, statistics, and key claims.
• Optimize content for SEO and reader engagement.
• Improve headlines, formatting, and article structure when needed.
• Ensure articles follow Military.com’s editorial standards.
• Flag inaccuracies or issues before content goes live.
• Work efficiently through a consistent volume of articles and deadlines.

What We’re Looking For

• Previous experience in editing, proofreading, journalism, or digital publishing.
• Excellent command of written English.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Strong fact-checking skills.
• Ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality.
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently.
• Basic understanding of SEO and digital content.
• Available to work within Pacific or Mountain Time Zones.

Bonus Points

• Military or veteran content experience.
• Experience with WordPress or another CMS.
• SEO or Google Analytics experience.
• High-volume freelance editing experience.
• Basic image editing skills.
