YourPace Part-Time Faculty: Business

Location: Presque Isle, ME, United States; Remote

The University of Maine at Presque Isle (UMPI) seeks dedicated subject matter experts for fully remote Adjunct Faculty positions in our YourPace competency-based education (CBE) Business Programs. 

YourPace offers asynchronous, flexible, student-centered degree programs serving adult learners. Teaching assignments run in eight-week sessions across six start dates throughout the year. We seek educators who are deeply committed to student success, higher education equity, and the unique mission of public regional institutions.

YourPace Adjunct Faculty facilitate asynchronous online learning by proactively engaging self-paced adult learners, providing substantive feedback, and evaluating student competencies within established SLA timelines (typically 24–48 hours). Faculty are also responsible for active communication and participating in course maintenance or curriculum updates as assigned.

UMPI values instructors who build genuine connections with students and prioritize quality teaching over high course loads. To be considered, your cover letter must include a 1–2 paragraph statement addressing:

• Your personal, professional, or academic connection to Maine, rural higher education, or UMPI’s mission.
• A brief breakdown of your current teaching load and active commitments at other institutions.

Qualifications & Technology Requirements

Undergraduate Tracks: 

• Master’s degree in Business or a related field from an accredited institution 
• Minimum of 3 years of direct professional industry experience.

Graduate Tracks:

• Doctorate in Business or a related field. 

Technology Requirements: Computer/laptop with modern processing capabilities, high-speed internet, webcam, and microphone.

Preferred Qualifications: Prior higher education teaching experience (online/asynchronous preferred), experience with Competency-Based Education (CBE) assessment models, and capacity for active student engagement.

Compensation & Working Conditions

• Adjunct faculty compensation and load limits are determined in accordance with the applicable University System Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) / Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Part-Time Faculty.
• Positions are non-tenure-track, fully remote, and scheduled on a course-by-course basis depending on student enrollment and program needs.
