Founding Account Executive, Vendor Network
Location: Remote
Department: General
**This role is primarily remote but requires some in-person attendance at our Manhattan office. Candidates must live within commuting distance of Manhattan.**
About the Role: Settle is where consumer brands plan, purchase, pay for, and finance inventory. Every dollar weve moved went to somebody - a co-packer, an ingredient supplier, a packaging converter, a freight forwarder - who then sat on Net 30, Net 60, sometimes Net 90, waiting to be made whole.
Those vendors are in our network today. They receive our payments. They see the POs. And they have a real, expensive, recurring problem: their cash conversion cycle is set by somebody elses payment terms. We have never made them an offer.
What doesnt exist yet is the go-to-market. Thats this job.
| What you sell | Early payment on invoices vendors are already owed, priced as a discount rate. |
| Who you sell to | Owners, controllers, and CFOs at suppliers, manufacturers, vendors, etc. |
| Your unfair advantage | We can already see who invoices whom, for how much, on what terms, and how late it gets paid. |
What Youll Do:
- Carry the first vendor-side quota. You own originated volume and revenue from vendors. The target will be ambitious, and it will be yours.
- Build the outbound motion from zero. No playbook, no SDRs, no inherited sequences. You write the first pitch, make the first hundred calls, and find out what actually converts a supplier who has never heard of us.
- Turn network data into pipeline. Segment the vendor base by invoice volume, term length, payment latency, and category. Work out which cohorts have the sharpest cash pain, and go there first.
- Stand up the systems. CRM structure, enrichment and list-building, sequencing, call and demo frameworks, routing, pipeline hygiene, dashboards, attribution. If it isnt instrumented, you build it.
- Kill the objection set. Youre asking a business to take less than face value, sooner, from their customers payment platform. Pricing, trust, accounting treatment, and why are you calling me all need crisp answers. Youll write them. Theres no existing playbook to lean on, so this takes real creativity, not just persistence.
- Feed product and credit. Feed product and credit. Youll sit closer to the vendor than anyone here. Where pricing breaks, where onboarding leaks, where self-serve should take over from a human - that signal comes back through you and not just as a bug report. Youll tell us what youd build instead and why.
- Write the playbook the team will run. This is a founding seat. Success means we hire reps behind you and youve left them something to execute.
First 12 Months: How Well Know Its Working
Days 0–60: Learn the network, make first contact. Know the financing product cold: pricing, credit policy, funding mechanics, where it breaks. Build the first real segmentation of the vendor base. Get live on outbound and book genuine conversations.
Months 2–6: Find a repeatable motion. Close early vendors, document why they said yes, and identify the one or two segments where conversion is strong enough to scale. Tooling and sequences running; first version of the playbook written.
Months 6–12: Scale it, then staff it. Hit the volume target, hand product a clear list of what would unlock the next tier, and help us make the first hires underneath you.
What You’ll Need:
- Youve carried a quota and hit it. 7+ years of closing experience in a role where the number was real and the pipeline was partly yours to create.
- Youve built a 0-to-1 outbound motion. Not I did well in an established territory - youve built lists, sequences, and a CRM from nothing, and can walk us through exactly what you did.
- You understand financial services. You can explain a discount rate versus an APR versus a factor rate without flinching, hold a credible conversation about credit risk and cost of capital, and sell inside the constraints compliance gives you.
- Youre comfortable with data. You can pull, segment, and prioritize a list yourself rather than waiting for someone to build it for you.
- Youre in the New York tri-state area, and can be in the room with the team as needed.
- You can reason across a multifaceted business. Credit risk, vendor motions, brand relationships, compliance constraints, unit economics - you hold more than one lens at once instead of defaulting to a single frame.
Strongly Preferred:
- Trade and supply chain experience. Youve sold to or worked with inventory-based businesses: co-packers, contract manufacturers, importers, distributors, packaging, freight.
- Receivables finance background. Factoring, supply chain finance, dynamic discounting, trade credit, PO finance, or merchant cash advance. Youve had the take less now, get it sooner conversation before.
- Two-sided network experience, especially activating a supply side that existed as a by-product of the demand side.
- Youve sold to owner-operators as well as finance teams, and you know those are two different pitches.
Probably Not for You If:
- You need an SDR team to fill your calendar.
- You need brand recognition to get the meeting - these vendors dont know us as a product yet.
- You want a playbook handed to you rather than the pen to write it.
How Well Interview: Expect a working session rather than a trivia quiz. Come with a point of view on how youd segment tens of thousands of vendors, what your first outbound sequence says, and which objection you think will hurt most.
Compensation: This role has an anticipated OTE in the range of $140,000 - $185,000 + equity + benefits. Actual compensation will be determined by various factors, including your skills and experience.
Work Authorization: At this time, Settle is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
Benefits & Perks That We Offer: Flexible PTO, flexible and remote work culture, competitive compensation and equity, health, dental, and vision coverage for you and your dependents, 401k, HSA/FSA, and an Employee Referral Program!
Our Commitment to You: At Settle we know that cultivating diversity and fostering an inclusive work environment is critical to our impact and success. We create an environment where no individual is advantaged or disadvantaged because of their background. We offer equal opportunity employment regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability status, age, marital status, or protected veteran status.
