Welfare and Debt Advice Team Leader -C1

Location: Edinburgh, United Kingdom; Hybrid

This opportunity is only open to internal Scottish Government applicants who are currently Priority Movers. Applications from individuals not currently on the Priority Mover list will be rejected and not considered.

Are you interested in work that helps increase financial security for low income households and do you want a rewarding post which gives you the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of people in, or at risk of, poverty?

This is a great opportunity for you to join a high profile area with significant stakeholder and Ministerial interest whose work features within the PfG and the Tackling Child Poverty Delivery Plan (Bringing Hope, Building Futures).

You will lead the Welfare and Debt Advice Services team which is responsible for managing a significant budget of around £18 million which support the funding of debt, welfare and income maximisation advice services. The team is also responsible for providing Ministerial support and advice regarding advice services across Scotland, including regulated debt advice, and liaising with a range of internal and external forums and stakeholders. You will demonstrate pro-active leadership, working across Government and beyond to ensuring the right cross-cutting connections are made. This will be particularly important as delivery responsibility spans a range of policy areas and external partners.

The Financial Wellbeing Unit sits within Third Sector and Financial Wellbeing Division of the Tackling Child Poverty and Social Justice Directorate. The Unit, which has two C1-led teams, is focussed on leading and collaborating on work to tackle poverty and inequality and to create a fairer Scotland where everyone can access financial and wider support to achieve an acceptable standard of living. The successful candidate will lead a team comprising two B3 Senior Policy Managers and B1 Policy Officer.

This opportunity is only open to internal Scottish Government applicants who are currently Priority Movers. Applications from individuals not currently on the Priority Mover list will be rejected and not considered.
