• Provide policy input to the business case to advance integrated public transport fares, including research and engagement, options development and identifying recommendations.  
• Strategically review and appraise public transport fares and funding models, identifying best practice and options to deliver reformed models.  
• Assess the geographic, economic, social, technological, and environmental impacts of policy options to ensure policy is fair, considered and robust in delivering government objectives.  
• Identify recommendations and actions to deliver integrated fares and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of how Scottish Ministers fund the public transport system, and supporting Public Service Reform.  
• Co-ordinate, and support to implement where appropriate, fares and funding reform recommendations and actions.  
• Collaborate with relevant policy colleagues to ensure a coherent, comprehensive and consistent approach to fares and funding reform, and support the Team Leader with external engagement to inform policy development.  

Contribute to the efficient and effective operation of the Fares and Funding team, the Integrated Public Transport Strategy Unit and the wider TIC Directorate: 

• Provide high-quality written policy advice and briefings, and effective verbal communication, for Ministers and others as required, including assisting in answering Parliamentary Questions, correspondence and FOIs.  

• Provide line management of a B2 Policy Officer (subject to the role being approved)  

• Provide support to the wider work of the Unit, undertaking discrete pieces of work as they arise, liaising with the Unit Head and relevant teams across the Transport Integration and Connectivity Directorate to advance delivery of the Vision for Integrated Public Transport.
