About the Opportunity

Pragmatike is partnering with a fast-growing consumer technology company to hire an experienced Senior or Staff Software Engineer.

Youll join a small, highly autonomous engineering team building AI-powered consumer products used by millions of people worldwide.

This is a high-impact role with direct influence on the product and engineering direction. Youll work closely with company leadership and a small team to turn ideas into products quickly, often while the problem itself is still being defined.

Were looking for an engineer who goes beyond implementing tickets. You should be comfortable operating with ambiguity, challenging assumptions, making product decisions, and owning features from the initial idea through to production.

The ideal candidate combines strong engineering fundamentals with product intuition, design taste, speed, and a strong bias toward shipping.

What Youll Do

• Own features end to end, from initial concept through production and iteration.

• Work directly with company leadership and a small engineering team to define what should be built and why.

• Turn ambiguous ideas and problems into concrete, user-facing products.

• Make strong technical and product decisions without waiting for complete specifications.

• Challenge product requirements and propose better solutions when appropriate.

• Build and ship complex features used by a large global consumer audience.

• Work closely with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders to move projects forward.

• Take ownership of meaningful product surfaces rather than isolated technical components.

• Use modern AI and agentic engineering tools to accelerate development and improve your workflow.

• Balance speed of execution with engineering quality and long-term maintainability.

• Think from first principles and continuously look for better ways to solve problems.

• Contribute to the technical direction and engineering culture of a small, high-performing team.

What Were Looking For

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with a strong track record of shipping production software.

• Experience building and launching consumer-facing products used by real users at meaningful scale.

• Proven ability to own complex features or products end to end.

• Previous experience in a founding engineer, early-stage startup, or similarly high-autonomy environment.

• Strong product sense and the ability to understand the user impact of technical decisions.

• Excellent engineering fundamentals and strong problem-solving skills.

• Comfortable working with ambiguity and defining solutions without detailed specifications.

• Strong bias toward action, experimentation, and shipping.

• Experience using AI coding assistants, agentic development tools, and modern developer tooling to increase engineering velocity.

• Strong design intuition and attention to product quality and user experience.

• Ability to think from first principles rather than relying solely on established patterns.

• Comfortable challenging technical or product decisions constructively.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Highly autonomous, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership without constant direction.

Nice to Have

• Experience as a founding engineer or one of the first engineers at a startup.

• Experience building a product from zero to launch.

• Experience working directly with founders or senior company leadership.

• Experience building AI-powered or AI-native consumer products.

• Experience operating in environments where requirements and product direction evolve rapidly.

• Experience shipping products with millions of users.

• Strong interest in emerging AI development tools and agentic engineering workflows.
