Job Description

The Opportunity

Lesley Universitys department of Teacher Education and Initial Licensure is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach: EEDUC 5139 - Learning Math in Early Childhood; Fall Semester 2026. This course meets on Thursdays from 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm and alternates between in-person and remote, synchronous class modalities.

Course Description:

This course is designed to develop knowledge of content and pedagogy that is essential for teaching mathematics in schools. Assessment strategies, adaptations for special needs, and classroom management are all addressed. The concept of big ideas, how they develop, and how they become represented is emphasized throughout the course.

Qualities & Capabilities

A successful candidate will have:

  • A Master’s degree in Math Education, Education, or a closely related field (required); PhD or Terminal degree (preferred)

  • Relevant Massachusetts DESE license (or equivalent from another state)

  • 5 or more years of successful teaching experience at the PreK-12 level 

  • Knowledge of and competence with basic tenets of social justice education 

  • Experience in constructivist, inquiry-based learning with an emphasis on student engagement
