-About the role

We are building clinical AI that has to hold up to real clinical standards. To do that well, we need clinicians in the loop. As a Senior Medical Advisor in Cardiology, you will bring your clinical judgement directly into our product and research work — annotating cardiology clinical data, evaluating how our AI performs against clinical ground truth, guiding and supervising junior annotators and other medical advisors, and advising the team on medical questions.

This is a flexible role designed to fit alongside active clinical practice — or, equally, around retirement. You dont need to be seeing patients day to day; we want your cardiology experience and judgement, whether that comes from an active practice or from years built up over a career. By doing this work, youll be working side by side with the Kaiko team to shape and pioneer AI solutions that are genuinely embedded in healthcare.

What youll do

The exact mix of work will vary over time depending on what the team needs in a given period — you wont do all of these at once. In one phase your focus might be annotation; in another, evaluation, advisory work, or guiding other medical advisors. The list below describes what the role may involve, not a fixed set of weekly tasks.

Annotation

  • Annotate/label clinical data according to defined protocols.

  • Contribute to writing, refining, and stress-testing annotation protocols so they are clinically sound and reproducible.

  • Help resolve edge cases and adjudicate disagreements between other medical advisors or junior annotators.

Evaluation

  • Review AI model outputs for medical quality.

  • Help define evaluation criteria and clinically meaningful success metrics.

  • Participate in benchmarking and structured error analysis, flagging where model behaviour diverges from clinical expectations.

Supervision & mentoring

  • Guide and supervise junior annotators and medical advisors, providing clinical direction and quality oversight.

  • Review the work of junior annotators and medical advisors, give constructive feedback, and ensure consistency against the annotation protocols.

  • Onboard and train new annotators, and act as the go-to clinical escalation point for difficult cardiology cases.

Medical advisory

  • Serve as a senior clinical domain expert to our product, research, and engineering teams.

  • Validate use cases and intended-use claims against current cardiology guidelines and standards (e.g. ESC, NVVC, national protocols).

  • Make sure what we claim our AI does, and the situations we say its for, actually line up with the clinical standard.

  • Participate in product discovery, design sprints, and beta testing as a clinical user, providing real user input on our products.

What we expect

  • Completed specialist training in cardiology (AIOS Cardiology), or an internationally recognised equivalent, with registration as a cardiologist.

  • A minimum of three years of clinical practice in cardiology following specialization. Retired cardiologists are very welcome — what matters is depth of clinical experience, not current practice status.

  • Flexibility — availability on a demand-driven basis, with work coming in waves driven by project needs rather than a fixed weekly schedule.

  • Precision and comfort working with detailed protocols and granular clinical data.

Nice to have

  • Involved in shaping local or national cardiology guidelines.

  • Familiarity with clinical AI, medical device regulation, or clinical validation.

  • Experience mentoring or supervising other clinicians or medical advisors.

What you get

  • Work directly with leading experts in AI and clinical data science.

  • A behind-the-scenes look at how AI solutions for healthcare are actually built, validated, and brought into clinical use.

  • A demystification of the buzz words — what terms like model, annotation, agentic, benchmarking, and validation actually mean, and what they mean for you as a clinician.

  • The chance to influence tools you and your colleagues may one day use in practice.

  • Flexible, hour-based work that fits around your clinical commitments — or your retirement.
