The Major Gifts Officer builds trusted, ministry-centered relationships with major gift donors and prospective partners, helping them connect their God-given passions with opportunities to advance K-LOVE’s mission. This role guides donors through meaningful engagement—identifying, cultivating, soliciting, stewarding, and closing philanthropic gifts—while developing thoughtful strategies that deepen long-term partnership and transformational generosity.

Travel required. West Coast Region.

 

Here’s just some of what you will be doing daily…

 

  • Serve as the primary relationship steward for an assigned portfolio of major gift donors and prospective partners, fostering trust, prayerful engagement, and alignment with the ministry’s mission.
  • Develop and execute donor strategies that invite transformational philanthropy, including five-, six-, and seven-figure gifts and planned giving opportunities that advance K-LOVE ministries.
  • Plan, coordinate, and travel to regularly visit donors and prospective partners in person, cultivating meaningful relationships through face-to-face engagement that supports donor strategy, stewardship, solicitation, and long-term ministry partnership.
  • Guide donors through the full major gift cycle, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, closing, stewardship, recognition, and ongoing engagement.
  • Create individualized engagement plans that reflect each donor’s interests, values, giving history, and desire to make a lasting ministry impact.
  • Prepare and present compelling gift opportunities in a timely, donor-centered manner that honors the donor’s relationship with the ministry and invites generous partnership.
  • Provide thoughtful stewardship that keeps donors informed of ministry impact, celebrates their generosity, and encourages continued engagement in sharing the hope of Christ.
  • Collaborate with Donor Engagement, Program, and ministry teams to align donor interests with strategic initiatives, meaningful experiences, and opportunities for deeper partnership.
  • Participate in portfolio review and planning processes, maintaining accurate donor records, contact reports, stewardship notes, and next steps to support coordinated relationship management.
  • Represent the ministry at donor meetings, regional gatherings, national events, and other engagement opportunities that strengthen relationships and advance mission partnership.
  • Adhere to guidelines and administrative procedures including submitting expense reimbursements, invoices, and contact report.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelors’ degree; or a combination of education/training with relevant experience required
  • Fundraising certification a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of donor development, major gift, planned giving, or transferable relationship-development experience, with demonstrated ability to cultivate, solicit, steward, and close significant philanthropic gifts.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen well, discern donor motivations, and translate donor passions into meaningful ministry partnership opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of major gift fundraising practices, planned giving concepts, donor strategy, stewardship, and ethical relationship management.
  • Ability to travel and attend events and donor meetings that may occur in the evenings and/or on weekends.Operate successfully with a high degree of autonomy
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite; and CRM experience in Salesforce is a plus.
  • Ability to think strategically, set priorities, define desired outcomes, and guide donor engagement plans from initial cultivation through long-term stewardship.
  • Excellent organization, follow-through, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple donor relationships, strategies, and administrative responsibilities with care.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with individuals, families, foundations, corporations, and ministry partners.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage philanthropic leaders through authentic, gracious, mission-centered conversations.
  • Commitment to accuracy, transparency, confidentiality, accountability, and ethical fundraising in all donor communications, reporting, and internal collaboration.
  • Ability to mentor Team Members and help them grow spiritually and professionally, leading by example.
