Senior II Site Reliability Engineer

Team: IT

Location: US

Commitment: Full-time

Workplace Type: remote

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer based in the United States.

Join a highly skilled, multinational engineering team responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure and applications powering a large-scale cloud computing platform. In this role, you will focus on the reliability, performance, and automation of Linux-based compute environments, working across physical, virtual, and containerized systems. You will identify performance bottlenecks, strengthen observability capabilities, and develop tools that help detect and resolve issues before they affect customers. Collaborating closely with kernel, hardware, operations, and engineering teams, you will help qualify new server builds and optimize critical platform technologies. This is an opportunity to work on complex distributed infrastructure at global scale while contributing to the performance and resilience of essential cloud services.

Accountabilities:

    • Develop, test, and deploy enhancements to automation, software, services, and tools maintained by the HIVE team.

    • Design and improve observability infrastructure to identify performance issues, detect anomalies, and resolve potential problems before they affect customers.

    • Investigate performance bottlenecks across physical, virtual, and containerized Linux environments.

    • Build and maintain automation and supporting tools using technologies such as Ansible and profiling solutions to facilitate performance analysis.

    • Explore new tools, codebases, and technical environments, identifying opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency.

    • Collaborate with Linux kernel and hardware engineering teams to assess and optimize new kernels, operating systems, and server configurations.

    • Support the qualification and performance optimization of new server hardware builds.

    • Develop deep technical expertise across multiple components of the Compute infrastructure environment.

    • Work closely with support, operations, and engineering teams to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex infrastructure issues.

    • Contribute to the reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement of cloud platform software and hardware technologies.

    • Requirements:

      • At least 8 years of relevant professional experience and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification.

      • Advanced expertise in Linux internals, system administration, and underlying hardware architecture.

      • Strong understanding of Linux best practices, including enabling and optimizing advanced hardware features within Linux environments.

      • Advanced experience with Linux kernel technologies, operating systems, KVM/QEMU, and nested virtualization.

      • Expert-level experience designing, developing, and deploying software and infrastructure at scale.

      • Advanced engineering experience working with large-scale distributed systems.

      • Hands-on experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Ansible, Kubernetes, Chef, or Puppet.

      • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and performance investigation skills.

      • Ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary engineering, hardware, support, and operations teams.

      • Adaptability and curiosity when working with new technologies, tools, and complex technical environments.

      • Benefits:

        • Annual base salary range of $146,400–$263,600 for US-based candidates, depending on experience, skills, certifications, and location.

        • Potential additional compensation through annual bonuses or other incentive opportunities.

        • Equity awards and participation in an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP), subject to applicable terms.

        • Remote work flexibility through a FlexBase program that supports working from home, an office, or a combination of both, depending on role requirements.

        • Healthcare benefits and programs supporting employee health and well-being.

        • 401(k) savings plan.

        • Company holidays, paid time off (PTO), and sick time.

        • Family-friendly benefits, including parental leave.

        • Employee Assistance Program supporting mental and financial wellness.

        • Opportunity to work with advanced cloud, compute, virtualization, and distributed infrastructure technologies.

        • Collaboration with experienced engineering professionals on systems supporting large-scale digital services.
