The Salesforce Manager serves as JEDs lead hands-on administrator for Salesforce (built on the Nonprofit Success Pack) while managing a team of Salesforce Administrators responsible for delivering on the platforms direction. This role owns the day-to-day administration, configuration, and team leadership of JEDs CRM environment, and is a driving voice in shaping the strategy and roadmap that determines how that environment evolves to support our organization. This role works day to day with JEDs Technical Project Manager, who owns intake, requirements, and stakeholder management for CRM-related requests; together they ensure scoped, ready-to-work deliverables move smoothly from intake into technical execution. Working across the organization and in close partnership with the CTO, this role ensures JEDs CRM environment and its supporting integrations remain aligned to organizational priorities today while building the team and processes needed to scale with JEDs growth.

Key Responsibilities
People Management & Team Leadership
• Manage day-to-day workload distribution, prioritization, and coverage across a growing team of full-time and temporary Salesforce Administrators, sized to meet workload, aligning assignments with JEDs standard and large-project DevOps tracks.
• Conduct regular one-on-ones, set goals, and deliver performance feedback for direct reports.
• Serve as the escalation point for complex configuration, deployment, or data-integrity issues raised by the team.
• Partner with the CTO on hiring decisions for the Salesforce Administration team, including scaling the teams size as workload requires, and on renewal or extension decisions for temporary staff.
Salesforce Administration & Optimization
• Serve as the lead administrator for JEDs Salesforce instances.
• Customize and configure Salesforce by creating and maintaining custom fields, workflows, and validation rules that align with evolving organizational needs.
• Ensure high levels of data integrity and system reliability through regular audits, data cleanup, and proactive performance monitoring.
• Manage Salesforce updates and releases, evaluating new features and integrating third-party applications to enhance functionality.
• Build and maintain insightful reports and dashboards to provide key stakeholders with actionable data on performance metrics and organizational goals.
Technical Delivery & Architecture
• Own architecture and platform-strategy decisions for JEDs Salesforce environment, and translate scoped, ready-to-work deliverables from the Technical Project Manager into technical execution.
• Lead the technical planning and execution of Salesforce configuration and deployment work, once requirements and scope are defined.
• Partner with the Technical Project Manager on prioritization calls that affect the broader teams workload, and weigh in on strategy, architecture, or roadmap alignment during handoffs from requirements to execution.
• Stay current with emerging Salesforce and platform capabilities, and propose technical solutions to advance JEDs mission and operational effectiveness.
User Training & Support
• Guide the design and delivery of engaging training programs and create clear documentation to drive user adoption and proficiency across all supported platforms.
• Provide timely and effective technical support to all staff, managing an internal ticketing system for platform issues.
• Act as a key technology partner to all departments, proactively gathering feedback to continuously improve systems, processes, and training materials.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders at all levels, translating technical concepts into understandable updates and reports.
• Serve as the technical voice in cross-departmental discussions on architecture, roadmap, and platform capability, in partnership with the Technical Project Manager as the primary stakeholder point of contact.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and consultants to ensure successful project delivery and alignment with JEDs standards.
Functional Ownership
This role owns administration of JEDs Salesforce instance and the integrations that connect to it, including Campaign Monitor, Sage Intacct, Fundraise Up, and DonorSearch. This role also owns the Salesforce Administration functions staffing model, a growing team of full-time and temporary Salesforce Administrators sized to meet workload, and is accountable for the teams output, data quality, and adherence to JEDs DevOps governance.
Decision Rights & Collaboration
• Decides independently: day-to-day Salesforce configuration and workload prioritization within the administration team; scheduling of standard-track deployments consistent with existing Gearset governance; assignment of tickets and coverage across the team.
• Requires input or approval: large-project scoping that affects cross-functional timelines, informed by requirements and scope defined through the Technical Project Managers intake process; changes to the teams overall size or budget; serves as a key voice in any strategic evaluation of JEDs CRM platform (e.g., a future platform change), with the final decision resting with the CTO, and CFAO and Chief Growth Officer.
• Collaborates closely with: the Technical Project Manager, to receive scoped, ready-to-work deliverables and to align on prioritization calls that affect the broader teams workload; the Salesforce Administration team, as their direct manager and technical escalation point; department stakeholders, on architecture, roadmap, and platform capability questions surfaced through the Technical Project Manager.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Required
• 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Salesforce Administrator, with a strong preference for experience with the Non-Profit Success Pack (NPSP).

• Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, or leading other administrators or technical staff, including managing contractor or temporary resources.
• Proven experience leading technical planning and execution on Salesforce projects, including translating scoped requirements into configuration and deployment work, setting technical timelines, and coordinating with project or program management partners.
• Ability to make and communicate prioritization decisions across competing team workloads.
