About History Factory
History Factory is the brand heritage and archives agency that supports the world’s best enterprises to enhance and transform strategy, brand positioning, marketing and communications that drive measurable results. For more than 40 years, History Factory has assisted organizations in employing their most underused assets—their history and heritage—to pursue their missions and fuel growth.
The Role
The manager of business development is the production engine behind History Factory’s new business pursuits. Working directly with the vice president of client development and partnerships, this role builds the presentations, proposals and sales deliverables that carry our recommendations to prospective clients, drafts the statements of work that follow and manages the asset library and pipeline records on which every pursuit depends.
This is a support role with a client-facing destination. You will be in scoping conversations and pitch meetings from the start, and the career path entails transitioning to a role in which you own opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Participate in meetings with prospective clients with accountabilities for supporting meeting preparation, agenda development and summary notes
- Coordinate subject matter experts, creative resources and leadership input against pursuit deadlines
- Build client presentations, develop proposals and supporting sales deliverables, and draft statements of work for new business pursuits from intake through final production
- Create content for business-development-driven outbound, including marketing emails and campaign material
- Maintain the library of reusable sales assets: capabilities materials, case studies, boilerplate, bios and pricing frameworks
- Identify gaps and flag them to ensure content is updated and supports business development needs
- Maintain pipeline data integrity: opportunity records, stages, sources and close-out documentation
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, communications or a related field
- 3–5 years supporting sales or business development in a B2B agency or professional services environment with an understanding of complex, consultative sales
- Direct experience producing proposals and client presentations that have won work
- Strong writing across formats and the ability to move from a rough brief to a finished
- Fluency with CRM and pipeline tools and real discipline about data hygiene
- Comfort in a client meeting, including the judgment to know when to speak and when to take notes
- Experience working with and operating in Fortune 500 environments, as well as familiarity with marketing and communications, archives or history in a business context, is an advantage rather than a requirement
What You Are
- Take-charge. You move things forward without being asked twice, and you chase what you need from people more senior than you.
- Organized. You run several pursuits on different clocks and drop none of them.
- Curious. You want to understand what we sell and why clients buy it, not just assemble the document.
- Collaborative. You are confident enough in your own abilities to share and facilitate. Complex B2B business development requires teamwork and orchestrating people.
- Invested. You want to be part of a team and to work for a company you can be proud of.
How You’ll Be Evaluated
- On-time delivery of pursuit deliverables against agreed deadlines, measured from intake to draft submitted for review
- Quality and win-readiness of proposals and presentations as assessed by the vice president of client development and partnerships and the sellers you support
- Currency of the asset library, with no core asset older than the agreed refresh interval
- Pipeline data accurate enough to be relied on without an audit
- This role does not carry a sales quota and is not measured on individual revenue
- Participation in History Factory’s Annual Performance Bonus Program, where company new business results are reflected
Career Path
The career path is client-facing business development, moving from supporting pursuits to carrying smaller opportunities of your own, and as that happens, we will open a junior
position beneath you to take on production work.
Compensation
Base salary of $75,000–$85,000, plus participation in History Factory’s Annual Performance
Bonus Program and full company benefits.
Our Vision

5. We put whats true at the center of what we do.
