Senior Product Marketing Manager

Department: Design

Location: Remote HQ

Employment Type: FullTime

Hi! Were Forerunner.

Stronger, more resilient communities are built by the people inside government and regulated industries who keep critical infrastructure running. But theyre working against real headwinds: fragmented data, field crews without the right tools, and high-stakes decisions made without a complete picture.

Forerunner exists to fix that. We build intelligent software that connects the systems these agencies and firms already rely on, fills the gaps those systems cant, and turns fragmented information into decisions and actions that reduce liability, surface revenue, and prevent small problems from becoming emergencies.

About the position:

We’re looking for our first dedicated Product Marketer. Forerunner is shipping fast and expanding into new verticals, and we need someone who can turn product momentum into revenue momentum — sharpening how we position, arming our sales team to win, and helping existing customers discover more of what Forerunner can do. You’ll own the story and the tools that help us sell — positioning, messaging, launches, and enablement — partnering closely with our marketing team, who drive demand generation, campaigns, and events. You will:

  • Build our product marketing function. Youll own positioning, messaging, and personas across our verticals — so every team tells the same sharp story to the right buyer. And youll own it upstream, not just downstream: youll have a seat in product planning, regular time on sales and customer calls (and in the call recordings), and ownership of the positioning source of truth the rest of the company works from.

  • Own how new products meet the market. Youll set our launch strategy — which releases warrant a full go-to-market push, what story each one tells, and what success looks like — then partner with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to deliver it: launch plans, messaging, release content, and internal readiness, so nothing ships quietly.

  • Set the enablement agenda. Youll figure out where deals stall and what the sales team needs to win — then build it: objection-handling frameworks, key narratives, use case examples, and playbooks. Youll train the team as we roll out new features and enter new verticals.

  • Be the voice of the market. Youll spend time with customers, prospects, and the field, and turn what you learn into insights that shape product direction and go-to-market strategy.

What success looks like:

Within your first year, we have clear, consistent positioning that every team — sales, marketing, product, and CS — actually uses. Our sales team closes deals faster because they’re armed with sharper messaging and enablement they reach for. Every launch lands with the market and the field ready. Existing customers are discovering and adopting new capabilities as launches reach them. And when leadership asks “why are we winning or losing?”, you have the answer.

About you:

As our first product marketing hire, youll define how a category-defining company goes to market. In general, you might be a good fit if you:

  • Have 7+ years of B2B product marketing experience, including building or significantly scaling a PMM function. Experience in govtech or public sector SaaS is preferred, though not required.

  • Pair a strong point of view with hands-on execution. You develop a clear, well-reasoned perspective on positioning, priorities, and go-to-market strategy — and youre just as energized by bringing it to life. As our first product marketer, youll be close to the work itself: writing the messaging, creating enablement assets, and running launches end to end.

  • Are a translator. You turn technical products into value stories that resonate with non-technical buyers — and you can flex that story across very different audiences, from a county public works director to an EHS director at a construction firm. Youre just as comfortable turning those stories into help desk articles, long-form blog posts, and case studies.

  • Make sales teams better. Youve built enablement programs reps actually use, and you help them understand — and sell — new features as they land, across every vertical we serve.

  • Think full-funnel. You see product marketing as spanning acquisition through expansion — youve run lifecycle or in-app campaigns and know how to grow revenue inside existing accounts.

  • Are endlessly curious about the market. You talk to customers and prospects without being asked and turn what you hear into insights others act on.

  • Work fluently with AI. You use AI tools in your day-to-day work and have a point of view on where they accelerate product marketing and where they dont.

  • Are comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity. Were a small, fast-moving team. Youll set direction with limited precedent, shift priorities as goals change, and take on responsibility beyond your job description.

If youre motivated by purpose, complexity, and impact, youll feel at home here.

Our team has a lot to offer.

Forerunner is an early stage company with an interdisciplinary team. We are motivated by seemingly intractable problems and work hard to support one another.

  • Were mission-driven. Our mission orients our business strategy and pushes us to work with a sense of urgency. We’re in the weeds -- our entire team spends time engaging with our partners in the field to better understand the real-world problems they face.

  • Were a small team. As a member of our growing team, you will quickly become an invaluable part of our organization and have a meaningful impact on our business and technical direction. We welcome unique perspectives and backgrounds. Your opinion matters and we hope youll share it.

  • We value in-person connection, so we keep offices in NYC, San Francisco, and Portland, ME. Roles can be hybrid or fully remote, depending on the work.

  • We want you to be happy and healthy. Forerunner offers competitive compensation, health/vision/dental coverage, and commuter benefits. We also have a quarterly wellness reimbursement so that you can have flexibility in defining what “health” means to you.

The salary range for this position is $170,000–$195,000. Salary is one component of Forerunners total rewards philosophy. Other components may include equity, professional development allowance, and more. This posting may span more than one career level. Compensation is determined based on a variety of factors, including an individuals skills, experience and qualifications.

Forerunner is an equal opportunity employer committed to embracing diversity and the perspectives of individuals from all backgrounds.
