Job description:

Overall, Job Purpose

• To safely and efficiently operate and monitor crushing plant equipment.
• To ensure continuous production of aggregate materials that meet required quality and volume targets, while adhering to company safety, environmental, and operational standards

Specific Job Responsibility

• Operate primary, secondary, and tertiary crushing equipment in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Monitor crusher performance, conveyor systems, and associated plant equipment.
• Ensure consistent feed to the plant to maintain optimal throughput and minimize downtime.
• Conduct pre-start inspections, routine checks, and basic maintenance activities.
• Identify, report, and assist in troubleshooting mechanical and operational faults.
• Maintain product quality by monitoring material gradation and adjusting settings as required.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Keep work areas clean and organized in line with housekeeping standards.
• Accurately complete log sheets, reports, and shift handover information.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and maintenance teams regarding plant performance.
• Participate in continuous improvement and safety initiatives.

Job Specific Competencies

• Knowledge of crushing plant operations and material handling processes.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment functionality.
• Ability to interpret plant conditions and respond appropriately to variations.
• Familiarity with safety procedures, lockout/tagout systems, and hazard identification.
• Ability to operate control systems of PC7 and HMI plant monitoring package.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control awareness.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.

Experience required to perform in this job

• Minimum of 2–3 years experience in crushing plant operations or a similar industrial environment.
• Experience in mining or aggregate processing operations is an added advantage.
• PC7 and HMI operation is an added advantage.
• All qualifications must be certified by ZAQA
