About the Role

Equip is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible MD or DO in General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our rapidly growing clinical care team caring for patients ages 6–99 years with eating disorders in a 100% virtual Telehealth platform.

Staff Psychiatrists are essential members of Equips multidisciplinary virtual treatment team, working closely alongside therapists, dietitians, and recovery/caregiver coaches to help children, adolescents, and adults recover from eating disorders. While Equip has dedicated general medical physicians and APPs to support physical health, the Staff Psychiatrist delivers psychiatric oversight, medication management, and medical stability monitoring within a virtual high-acuity eating disorder ecosystem.

This position focuses on direct patient care and multidisciplinary collaboration without administrative or clinical supervision responsibilities for APPs. This is a remote, full-time, salaried position with flexible hours.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive psychiatric assessments, ongoing medication management, and evidence-based treatment plans for children, adolescents, and adults with eating disorders and complex co-occurring conditions, supporting families throughout the recovery process.

  • Monitor vital signs, laboratory data, and clinical indicators to ensure medical stability in an outpatient virtual setting. Work closely with medical assistants and nurses to order labs, prescribe medications, obtain medical records, and facilitate external care collaboration.

  • Partner actively within a 5-person treatment team (therapist, dietitian, physician, peer mentor, and family mentor) to establish medical guidelines and individualized care plans.

  • Work closely with medical assistants and nurses to assist with obtaining medical records, monitoring vital signs, ordering labs and medications, and facilitating care collaboration.

  • Utilize EMR messaging and internal communication channels to respond to patient/family inquiries and communicate efficiently with the broader care team.

  • Complete session notes, medical assessments, and documentation within Equips electronic medical record in a timely manner (within 24 hours) in compliance with company policies and best practices.

  • Communicate and collaborate with patients’ outside primary care providers, specialists, or inpatient/residential facilities as needed.

  • Engage actively in weekly treatment team meetings, clinical case reviews, department meetings, and continuing education initiatives.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Credentials

  • Graduate of an accredited medical school holding an MD or DO degree.

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

  • Proven experience or strong baseline competence in eating disorder medical management, including evaluating refeeding risks, monitoring psychiatric/medical stability variables, and managing high-risk psychotropic medications.

  • Solid foundation of medical knowledge and high confidence in medical stability monitoring within a virtual high-acuity eating disorder ecosystem.

Licensure

  • Preference for candidates located in EST timezone

  • Preference for IMLC Compact Option: Currently licensed through the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) or IMLC Eligible (meets IMLC criteria, holds or is eligible to obtain a Letter of Qualification [LOQ]).

    • Requirement: Candidate must reside in an IMLC member state to qualify for or maintain the IMLC pathway.

Clinical & Cultural Competencies

  • Proven capability in high-acuity, high-volume virtual care delivery with sound decision-making skills.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills for patient engagement and cross-functional team collaboration.

  • High clinical maturity to navigate complex, sensitive eating disorder cases with empathy and a patient-centered mindset.

  • Flexibility, adaptability, and comfort in a fast-paced, digital health organization.
