Senior Sales Area Manager (m/f/d) - Southwest Germany
Location: STUTTGART, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany; Remote
Preferred location: Stuttgart area (alternatively Heilbronn, Karlsruhe, Freiburg, Ulm, Lindau/Friedrichshafen)
The Senior Sales Area Manager (SAM) is a high-impact, results-driven individual contributor responsible for accelerating revenue growth, expanding customer reach, and creating new business opportunities across Southwest Germany.
This role owns the development and execution of a territory growth strategy focused on increasing pipeline, winning new business, expanding existing customer relationships, and driving measurable business outcomes. The SAM works closely with customers, distributors, solution & integration partners, business units, marketing, and technical resources to maximize market coverage and commercial success.
The successful candidate combines strong business acumen with technical credibility and excels at translating territory intelligence into focused execution and business results.
This position reports directly to the Regional Sales Manager.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Territory Strategy & Business Growth
- Develop and execute a comprehensive territory growth plan aligned with regional and corporate priorities.
- Identify, prioritize, and develop high-potential accounts, customer sites, and growth opportunities.
- Drive sustainable pipeline creation and conversion across both existing customers and new logos.
- Balance short-term bookings objectives with long-term territory development. - Customer Engagement & Account Development
- Build trusted relationships with technical, operational, and executive-level stakeholders.
- Position Emerson Test & Measurement solutions to solve complex customer challenges and create business value.
- Lead account development activities for priority customers and target growth accounts.
- Drive executive engagement where appropriate to increase strategic account penetration. - Partner & Ecosystem Development
- Collaborate closely with distributors, solution partners, and system integrators to extend market reach and increase scale.
- Define clear engagement models and ownership to maximize customer coverage and growth.
- Support the identification and onboarding of new strategic partners where appropriate.
- Ensure effective route-to-market execution across the territory. - Demand Generation & Market Development
- Generate net new opportunities through customer engagement, prospecting, marketing campaigns, industry events, and partner activities.
- Develop and execute local market development initiatives.
- Identify emerging market trends, growth segments, and strategic investment areas.
- Drive awareness and adoption of Emersons Test & Measurement portfolio. - Territory Planning, CRM & Forecasting Excellence
- Maintain a robust territory plan and continuously refine priorities based on market insights and customer potential.
- Leverage Salesforce, territory intelligence, and account analytics to guide execution.
- Maintain high standards of CRM data quality, opportunity management, and forecasting accuracy.
- Provide clear business insights and recommendations to management. - Cross-Functional Leadership & Execution
- Coordinate effectively with Business Units, Account Managers, Marketing, Customer Success, Channel Teams, and Technical Resources.
- Drive alignment across stakeholders to accelerate customer outcomes and business growth.
- Champion accountability, execution excellence, and customer focus throughout the territory.

For This Role, You Will Need:
- 5+ years of experience in technical sales, field sales, account management, application engineering, or related customer-facing roles.
- Engineering degree or equivalent technical background.
- Proven track record of generating pipeline and delivering measurable business results.
- Strong business development and account planning capabilities.
- Experience engaging both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Ability to translate customer objectives into business and technical solutions.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluent German and English.
- Willingness to travel extensively across Southwest Germany.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:
- Experience in Test & Measurement, Industrial Automation, Electronics, Aerospace & Defense, Research, Semiconductor, Automotive, or similar industries.
- Familiarity with AI, data analytics, Industrial IoT, software-centric solutions, and emerging technologies.
- Experience working with distributors, channel partners, or system integrators.
- Understanding of software, services, and subscription-based business models.
- Experience growing underpenetrated territories and creating new business opportunities.
- Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
