Senior Power Systems Engineer

Location: Austin, TX, US

Overview

We are designing the grid of the future!

Conduct IFC and as-built IBR dynamic modeling studies in accordance with existing and future ISO-specific requirements and NERC reliability standards, such as PJMs EMT Model Development Guideline for Inverter-Based Resources and NERC MOD-026-2.

Responsibilities

How you can make an impact:

  • Perform detailed bulk power system dynamic studies using various power system software such as PSCAD and PSSE. 
  • Conduct IBR modeling: steady state, short circuit and dynamic. 
  • Perform various compliance technical assessments on IBR facility rating, protection coordination, ride through assessment. 
  • Prepare technical study reports for all studies performed.
  • Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives. 
  • Identify training needs and present them to the Engineering Manager as needed.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation under 

Qualifications

Bring your passion, heres what’s needed:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in power systems 
  • 5 years+ of experience as a power systems engineer 
  • Experience with ERCOT Model Quality Test or equivalent, IEEE-2800, and NERC MOD-026-2
  • Experience with performing power system impact studies such as Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability 
  • Experience with power systems software such as PSCAD and PSSE
  • Experience with automating/programing in Python
  • Experience leveraging AI and automation tools responsibly to improve quality, productivity and innovation under experience

Location: This position will be remote within the US or Canada.

Travel: Occasional travel may be needed (10% or less)
