Senior 3D Product Render Artist
Department: Creative
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Mississauga, Remote
The Role
Wed like to conduct an experiment. Visit dbrand.com. Scroll through our product pages and take note of the visual. Now, try to guess which you saw were real-life photography and which were renders.
If youre struggling, it means we did a good job. If you arent, you might be able to do an even better one.
Were looking for a Senior 3D Product Render Artist: someone who turns a raw CAD file from our Industrial Designers into an image so convincing that tech publications think we got early iPhone access. Someone who owns every render from raw STEP file to final frame. Most importantly, someone who doesnt need an Art Director looking over their shoulder during the process.
That individual probably works in-house at a consumer hardware brand right now. Or for the agency that brand hired. Maybe theyre a concept render artist whose fake devices get mistaken for real leaks. Maybe theyre topping ArtStations Industrial & Product Design charts. To be perfectly honest, we dont care what theyre doing right now. We care about what they can do here, for us.
Do the above paragraphs describe you? Of course not. You dont work here... yet. But if you have the skills we need, you certainly could.
The Environment
Still here? Excellent. Strictly speaking, dbrand sells commodities. Phone cases, screen protectors, stickers with ink on them. Anyone can make those. The alchemy nobody else has figured out is turning those commodities into admission tickets for a culture that millions have bought into.
As our Senior 3D Product Render Artist, your work will be scrutinized. Not just by us, but by our millions of customers, site visitors, and social media followers. Remember: our audience owns the exact devices youre rendering. They know what the chamfer looks like, how the anodization plays with the light, and whether the colour on their screen matches the device in their hand. They also have opinions. Strong ones, posted publicly, with a high degree of visibility. Get something wrong and youll hear about it within seconds of publication.
Your role is to make sure they never get the chance. Youll live within our Photography team, feeding renders to our website, social channels, video projects, and packaging. Youll work with our Industrial Design team on CAD handoff, with our Graphic Designers and Software Engineers to animate product pages, and with our Videography team to build 3D scenes and motion graphics. Full pipeline, start to finish: refine, shade, layout, light, render - and even animate, when the brief calls for it.
Then theres the volume. During peak season, the launch calendars of Apple, Google, and Samsung add up to 1,000 renders, each of which has to be perfect and on time. Brute force wont get you there. Scene systems, procedural shaders, render templates, and a pipeline where the first SKU takes hours and the second takes minutes will. The question isnt whether you can render 1,000 assets. Its whether you can build the machine that does, so you can spend your time on the hero shots that matter.
Other times, it isnt about volume at all. A phone leaks at 9am. By 9:05, the creative team has an idea for a post and no asset to build it with. We get on a five-minute call. You disappear into Blender. By 3pm, your render is on its way to a million views on Instagram.
Both are the job.
At dbrand, your renders wont die in a slide deck that some client never looks at. Theyll be the first thing millions of people see when a new iPhone drops, and the last thing our competitors see before they fail to copy your work.

The Characteristics
- Agile: Priorities change at dbrand, sometimes mid-render. You can drop a hero animation for a leak-day social asset and pick it back up without losing the thread.
- Collaborative: You take a five-minute brief and run with it. You dont need an Art Director, but you know when to pull one in.
- Curious: Youve tried the new renderer, the new node, the new plugin. Some of it stuck. You know which parts, and why.
- Disciplined: You know that a render is a hundred small decisions, and you dont skip any of them.
- Enthusiastic: You get a kick out of a render that fools someone. Youd rather solve the shader than work around it.
- Innovative: When the pipeline breaks at SKU 400, you fix the pipeline, not SKU 400.
- Perfectionist: You keep going after the render looks done, because looks done and “matches the device in someones hand are different standards.
- Persistent: Failed renders, crashed scenes, rejected drafts. None of it puts you off. Youve been through enough of it to know its the job.
- Reliable: You hit the date you said youd hit. Nobody has to check.
The Responsibilities and Qualifications
The Responsibilities
Youll be responsible for:
- Every product render on dbrand.com, end to end, from receipt of engineering CAD to final export.
- Scene systems and render templates that let a new SKU drop into an existing product line in minutes, matching the rest of the catalogue exactly.
- Animated 3D elements for drop pages, built with our Graphic Designers and Software Engineers.
- 3D scenes and motion graphics for the Videography team.
- Same-day social assets when a leak or a launch calls for one.
- Whatever else needs to exist in 3D and doesnt yet.
- Holding quality and schedule through peak season, when the render count runs into four figures.
The Qualifications
What youll need:
What youll need:
- 5-10 years of professional 3D work, with a portfolio of product renders that hold up against photography.
- Native fluency in Blender or Cinema 4D. Houdini, 3ds Max, or Unreal Engine are a bonus.
- Experience taking engineering CAD (STEP, STL, OBJ) through a full pipeline: cleanup, shading, layout, lighting, rendering, and animation.
- Advanced shading, texturing, UV mapping, lighting, and rendering. Working knowledge of modelling, rigging, and animation.
- A photographers eye. Composition, lighting, depth of field, and edit pacing should be second nature, not something you look up.
- Comfort in Photoshop and Illustrator.
- The ability to take a brief and own it without an Art Director in the room.
- Clear, direct written communication. Most of your briefs will arrive as a Slack message.
Nice to have:
- High-concept advertising animation work.
- CGI VFX basics: 3D tracking, match move, HDRI lighting.
- Titling, captioning, transitions, and the codec and aspect-ratio knowledge to deliver a finished cut without a handoff.
The Moment of Truth
The job starts between $150,000 and $175,000 per year based on experience, with health, dental, vision, GRSP, and profit-sharing benefits. The position is fully remote, but when required, our HQ is located a few minutes west of Pearson Airport.
Still think you have what it takes to thrive in our agile, high-growth, fast-paced environment?
To be perfectly honest, we doubt it.
You’re welcome to prove us wrong.
