Integration Lead

Location: Cobalt Service Partners - HQ

Department: Operations

Role: Integration Lead

Organization: Cobalt Service Partners (cobaltsp.com)

Location Remote; regular travel to partner-company sites required

Reports To: VP, Operational Excellence

COBALT SERVICE PARTNERS OVERVIEW

Cobalt is a private equity-backed company aiming to build the most impactful business in the commercial access and security industry (access control systems, video surveillance systems, intrusion detection systems and other low voltage systems integration). Cobalt is backed by Alpine Investors, a private equity firm specializing in middle market companies in the services and software industries and with $15bn+ of AUM. Cobalts Co-CEOs (Tyler Hoffman and Anthony Gonzalez) are experienced investors and operators. In two and a half years since launching, Cobalt has successfully acquired 22 partner companies and established itself as one of the leading platforms in a highly attractive and fragmented industry that is benefitting from substantial secular growth tailwinds.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Integration Lead owns the integration playbook and the 100-day onboarding for every Cobalt acquisition, quarterbacking the cross-functional plan from pre-close readiness through Day 100. The role reports to the VP of Operational Excellence and partners with the value-creation team, partner-company leadership, and Cobalts accounting, technology, and operating-system functions to build the playbook and the operating cadence so integration occurs on time and within scope and doesnt depend on individual heroics.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Acquisitions fully onboarded to Cobalts operating standard within 100 days
  • Integration plans delivered on time and on scope
  • Value-creation plans built and signed off before close
  • Planned value levers started within 90 days of closing
  • Blockers cleared or escalated within target timeframes

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build the plan before close: attend pre-close onsites, meet the management team in person, and have a written Day-1 and 100-day integration plan approved and ready by close
  • Own the announcement and the communication: lead how each acquisition is announced, so the acquired team and Cobalt stakeholders always know whats changing, whats staying, and when
  • Get every acquisition fully onboarded within 100 days: bring each business onto Cobalts operating system, on time and on scope
  • Run the cadence and clear the path: coordinate finance, systems, and operating-model workstreams in parallel, keep a persistent action register current, and escalate blockers with a recommendation
  • Enable value capture: make sure every planned lever has a named owner, a target, and a baseline, and that levers are executed on schedule
  • Hand off clean and durable: leave each business running a stable, standardized operation that keeps running without your continued involvement
  • Build the playbook: sharpen the Day-1 checklist, communication plan, and value template after every deal so the process compounds and each new deal starts ahead of the last

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Runs post-merger integration at pace: builds and executes Day-1-to-100 plans that stabilize a business without breaking it, sequencing systems, finance, and process cutover in the right order
  • Leads multiple concurrent workstreams to a deadline: coordinates finance, people, systems, and shared services in parallel, holds owners to dates, and runs a disciplined cadence
  • Builds operating systems and playbooks that outlast their creator: turns a one-off integration into a standard others can run, and drives adoption rather than compliance
  • Reads an operation and its people quickly: forms an accurate picture of a business on a short onsite and identifies the few levers that actually move the number
  • Operates fluently in the numbers: reads P&Ls and job-cost reports, sizes a lever in dollars with a confidence level, and connects the plan to EBITDA
  • Has a point of view on where automation and technology create leverage in integration and value capture
  • Bachelors degree in business, operations, or a related field
  • Comfortable with regular travel to partner-company sites across the portfolio

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Operates across businesses on different systems, processes, and maturity levels simultaneously, and sequences priorities ruthlessly when everything feels urgent
  • Leads with the financial case before the requirement, and earns trust through competence rather than title
  • Makes decisions with incomplete information, owns them without deflection, and creates momentum rather than drift
  • Operates comfortably in numbers, uses data to drive decisions, and documents every initiative with a verified financial baseline
  • Stays focused and effective during prolonged stress or conflict, and maintains pace and judgment even when unpopular
  • Embodies Cobalts values in decisions, optimizes for enterprise outcomes over local convenience, and raises issues directly and early

COBALTS CORE VALUES ARE

  • Unwavering stewardship: We believe advancing founders legacies is a privilege. We do right by our founders, teams, and customers in good times and in bad.
  • Excellence in action: We hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards. Were bold in our pursuits, dont make excuses, and relentlessly empower each other to get the job done.
  • Seek and tell the truth: Were honest with ourselves and others. We do what we say well do, say what needs to be said, and search for the right answer regardless of where it comes from.
  • Love learning: Were always learning as individuals, as a team, and as a business. We show up humble, curious, and with the courage to change our minds.
  • Enjoy the ride: Were fired up by our mission, love our team, and dont take either for granted. We show up authentically, assume best intent, and try not to take ourselves too seriously.
