Overview

The Director of Impact and Outcomes (DIO) provides strategic leadership and oversight for all club-wide program operations across multiple sites, serving youth ages 5-18. This position plans, develops, and implements comprehensive programs while motivating program managers and staff to execute strategies that achieve organizational goals.

The DIO leads positive youth development initiatives focused on member experience, program quality, strategic partnerships, and data-driven decision-making. In collaboration with senior leadership, the DIO develops and monitors organizational goals and strategic plans related to youth outcomes, financial management, and technology integration.

This position directs all youth programming and is accountable for tracking and reporting measurable impact in the organizations priority outcome areas: Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, and Good Character and Citizenship.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Staff Management:

  • Supervise and evaluate program management team to ensure fulfillment of member needs across educational, personal, physical, social, emotional, and vocational development
  • Design and implement organization-wide program models that achieve measurable outcomes and deliverables
  • Provide direct supervision to assigned program staff and volunteers, including hiring, training, performance management, and disciplinary actions in accordance with organizational policies and applicable employment laws
  • Lead organization-wide data collection, analysis, and reporting for program impact and outcome measurement
  • Implement and manage Daxko database system for program tracking and reporting
  • Facilitate continuous quality improvement (CQI) cycles using Youth Program Quality Assessment (YPQA) tools to drive data-informed decisions focused on optimal club and staff experiences
  • Oversee special programs and events including Keystone, Youth of the Year, and Awards Programs
  • Consult with families, parents, guardians, and caregivers regarding member progress, behavior, and program-related issues

Strategic Planning and Program Development:

  • Develop and implement multi-year strategic plans aligned with organizational mission and vision to achieve program goals
  • Conduct regular program assessments to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and grant requirements
  • Monitor and evaluate strategic plan effectiveness using established metrics, adjusting strategies to ensure organizational success
  • Ensure compliance with all organizational standards, grant regulations, state licensing requirements, safety standards, and other applicable regulatory frameworks, including required reporting, assessments, and evaluations
  • Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure progress toward strategic goals and identify improvement opportunities
  • Anticipate youth development trends and industry challenges, adjusting programs to maintain effectiveness and relevance
  • Ensure grant-funded programs are implemented with fidelity to grant requirements and best practices

Resource and Budget Management:

  • Manage assigned program budgets, monitoring and managing expenses to ensure operations remain within established financial guidelines
  • Oversee project planning, execution, monitoring, and control to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
  • Participate in development and monitoring of the organizations annual budget
  • Collaborate with Resource Development and Marketing & Communications departments to develop competitive grant proposals
  • Prepare and submit required reports, data analysis, and documentation for fundraising, grants, and compliance purposes

Relationship Management:

  • Maintain regular communication with club staff (professional and volunteer), club members, and supervisor to provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines, and provide instruction and counsel
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external community organizations, schools, families, and other stakeholders to support program goals and address challenges
  • Represent the organization professionally in community meetings, events, and collaborative initiatives

Transportation and Program Support:

  • Transport members, staff, and materials using organization vehicles as needed to support program activities and field trips, in compliance with all safety regulations, organizational transportation policies, and maintaining required valid drivers license and acceptable driving record

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in youth development, social work, education, nonprofit management, or related field from an accredited college or university required; Graduate degree preferred
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth-serving organization, including planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people
  • Proven track record of large-scale, multi-site program management with demonstrated success in improving program quality metrics (e.g., Optimal Club Experience and YPQA scores year-over-year)
  • Thorough knowledge of nonprofit organizations, youth development services, and evidence-based programming best practices
  • Understanding of group dynamics and developmental needs of children and adolescents
  • Familiarity with grant compliance, program evaluation methodologies, and quality improvement processes
  • Ability to develop and articulate a clear vision for organizational success across multiple Club locations; create and implement comprehensive strategic plans; anticipate industry trends and challenges; and establish accountability structures to ensure successful execution
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to effectively engage diverse audiences including staff, members, families, funders, and community partners
  • Demonstrated ability to inspire, persuade, and motivate staff to achieve organizational goals while fostering a positive, collaborative work environment and facilitating effective team collaboration
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities with capacity to manage and implement multiple concurrent projects and programs with limited supervision
  • Ability to analyze complex situations, develop creative solutions, and make sound decisions that advance organizational objectives
