Director, Patient Advocacy US (Field Based Role)

What you will do:
Reporting to the Head of US Patient Advocacy, you will lead U.S. patient advocacy for the amyloidosis portfolio. You will build strategic alliances, bring patient and caregiver perspectives into decision-making, and advance initiatives that support diagnosis, disease awareness, access, treatment advances, caregiver resources, and improved health outcomes. Responsibilities may evolve with patient and business needs.
You will be responsible for:
Establish Alexion as a trusted, long-term partner to U.S. amyloidosis and other relevant patient communities by strengthening existing relationships and identifying new partnerships.
Shape and execute U.S. patient advocacy strategies and plans in partnership with Medical, Commercial, Corporate Affairs, Market Access, Patient Services, Marketing, Regulatory, Legal, and Compliance.
Advance access and equity through patient-partnered alliances and initiatives informed by the lived experience of patients and caregivers.
Connect patient groups with information and resources, build collaboration across communities, and coordinate disease-specific and cross-disease engagement with U.S. and global colleagues.
Gather, share, and integrate patient, caregiver, and patient advocacy group insights to shape Alexion programs, research, activities, strategies, and decisions.
Represent Patient Advocacy on relevant cross-functional leadership teams and externally at patient-focused congresses and meetings; lead internal patient-centricity sessions.
Align with other AstraZeneca business units, create meaningful connections between patient groups and Alexion leaders, and manage projects, agencies, vendors, and budgets effectively.
You will need to have:
Bachelors degree with 10+ years of progressive industry or relevant professional experience, or 7+ years of patient advocacy experience.
Strong knowledge of and established connections within the U.S. rare disease advocacy community (amyloidosis advocacy connections a plus)
Ability to lead through influence and work effectively across a complex matrix.
Broad biopharma knowledge, including drug development, HEOR, product launch, access and reimbursement, commercialization, and compliant patient engagement.
Strong understanding of legal, regulatory, compliance, and other requirements affecting biopharmaceutical patient engagement.
Excellent communication, judgment, discretion, interpersonal skills, integrity, and ability to manage sensitive or complex patient issues.
Demonstrated ability to build internal and external partnerships, manage agency partners, prioritize shared goals, and perform effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Excellent project, agency, vendor, and budget management skills, with ability to travel and perform the core communication, collaboration, analytical, and problem-solving requirements of a field-based role, with or without accommodation.
