This team is responsible for the central business logic that enables us to manage a diverse and growing portfolio of distributed energy resources (DERs) in wholesale energy markets. We approach our work from a systems engineering perspective, and emphasize high reliability, thoughtful abstractions, and root-cause solutions. </div><div><br /></div><div>Our primary stack runs on AWS and includes Go, Python, React, Hashistack, and Docker. We are heavily data driven, and use tools like Jupyter and Datadog to measure and understand our work. If you’re a holistic problem solver who likes to think about systems, we’d love to hear from you. </div><h3>Areas we work in:</h3><ul><li>Intuitive internal APIs and reliable data products to form the building blocks of our demand response platform</li><li>Public-facing API (<a href="https://api.voltus.co">https://api.voltus.co</a>) and developer documentation</li><li>Unified platform for collecting and processing customer documents and utility data</li><li>Providing accurate, timely, and effective notifications for grid emergency events to coordinate customer and internal response</li><li>Internal tools (e.g. analytics, scripting environments) to provide pragmatic solutions for technically proficient internal users</li></ul><h3>Responsibilities for this role:</h3><ul><li>Design and implement modular, composable primitives and APIs to capture core business logic for operating a growing portfolio of diverse energy resources</li><li>Understand energy industry rules, regulations, and standards to effectively design software that meets our needs</li><li>Collaborate with external partners, such as metering, battery, solar, residential, or commercial energy management systems, utilities, and ISOs</li><li>Contribute to the engineering roadmap, vision, and goals</li><li>Establish clear and specific success criteria with key stakeholders</li><li>Develop technical strategies for tackling new products, markets, and DER types</li><li>Provide mentorship and coaching to more junior team members</li></ul><h3>Requirements:</h3><ul><li>4+ years of software engineering industry experience</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Experience with cloud native application design and development using APIs, containers, and infrastructure-as-code</li><li>Experience with building data models and managing database migrations</li><li>Understanding of modern API design and best practices</li><li>Ability to write maintainable, modular, and well-tested code</li></ul><div><span>Please note that at this time, </span><b>we do not sponsor visas or transfers for new hires</b><span>.
