<h2>Engineering Manager, Payments</h2>Procurify is the AI-enhanced procurement and AP automation platform for mid-market organizations. We’re looking for a pragmatic and thoughtful engineering leader to help scale our platform and team.<h3>ABOUT THE ROLE</h3>We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead our Payments team. This team is at the heart of our platform, owning the critical suite of products that automate financial workflows for our customers, including our Corporate Spending Card, Expense Management, and Accounts Payable features.In this role, you’ll manage a team of software engineers and serve as a technical leader within the team’s business domain. You’ll work closely with the Head of Engineering to grow technical leadership and further develop a highly engaged, high-performing team.<h3>WHAT YOU’LL BE WORKING ON</h3><ul><li>Lead &amp; Mentor: Manage a team of 6–8 software engineers, providing coaching for technical excellence, fostering individual career growth, and nurturing a culture of trust and deep collaboration.</li><li>Drive Velocity: Lead your team to deliver consistently against ambitious goals. Youll define success metrics, track progress transparently, and communicate proactively with stakeholders to ensure alignment and celebrate wins.</li><li>Own a Complex Domain: Own the technical direction and long-term vision for the Payments team. Ensure designs are architecturally sound, scalable, secure, and align with our established patterns.</li><li>Balance &amp; Strategize: Think strategically to balance the repayment of technical debt with the delivery of new feature development. Youll be key in building both developer and product velocity for the long term.</li><li>Evolve our Architecture: Guide your teams efforts in evolving our Python/Django monolith towards a more modular, testable, and maintainable architecture that can support the scale and complexity of modern financial products.</li><li>Forge a Leadership Triad: Partner closely with the team’s Product Manager and Designer, forming a high-trust triad to deeply understand customer needs and drive the success of your product areas.</li><li>Develop Future Leaders: Mentor senior engineers and team leads, actively supporting the growth of the next generation of engineering leaders at the company.</li><li>Collaborate Broadly: Work with partners across the organization—including our Security, Platform, and Data teams—to deliver robust, high-quality, and compliant software solutions.</li></ul><h3>WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR</h3><ul><li>Proven Leadership: 5+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a direct people management role.</li><li>Modern SaaS Experience: Experience building scalable, customer-facing SaaS products using modern technologies (we use Python/Django, TypeScript/React, AWS, and Kubernetes).</li><li>Architectural Acumen: Strong experience with software design principles and patterns. You have a proven track record of evolving large-scale applications and guiding teams through technical complexity.</li><li>Strategic Thinker: You have experience working with legacy codebases and know how to make pragmatic, strategic decisions to untangle complexity and improve both the engineering experience and customer value.</li><li>Agile &amp; DevOps Mindset: Strong knowledge of agile development practices, CI/CD, test automation, and building for observability.</li><li>Empathetic &amp; Accountable: A self-driven, accountable leader who thrives in an autonomous, fast-paced environment and leads with empathy, compassion, and a people-first approach.</li><li>Exceptional Communicator: You excel at communicating complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences, fostering collaboration and alignment across teams.Nice to have: </li><li>Domain Expertise: A strong interest or background in the FinTech ecosystem. Direct experience building products in Accounts Payable automation, corporate card programs, expense management, or B2B payments is highly desirable.
