About the role

Were seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our team to help scale Points multi-product digital platform. In this strategic role, you will lead the Customer Operations Pillar while defining and driving the technical roadmap aligned with the product vision, empowering our Sales and Customer Experience team to deliver smarter, faster, and personalized experiences for our customers.

You’ll lead architectural design across multiple systems, champion the integration of AI-driven capabilities across communication channels, and play a key role in shaping the future of how we engage with homeowners. This role is ideal for a highly experienced engineer who excels in fast-paced environments, thrives on solving complex challenges, and brings a strong product mindset to cross-functional collaboration.

Your responsibilities

Architecture & Strategy

  • Define and evolve intelligent system architectures that leverage AI and ML to deliver personalized customer experiences.
  • Lead the strategic integration of across platforms—ensuring alignment with the long-term product and technical vision.
  • Promote modular, maintainable architectures that support rapid experimentation while maintaining robustness and regulatory compliance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product, Design, Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience teams to transform business challenges into intelligent, AI-enhanced solutions.
  • Contribute to product discovery, ensuring technical investments deliver long-term value.
  • Collaborate on responsible AI practices, including fairness, transparency, and ethical use of data.

Execution & Delivery

  • Remain hands-on, writing and reviewing code across codebases in multiple languages (e.g., TypeScript, Python, Ruby).
  • Drive greenfield initiatives and AI-powered features across communication channels like chat, voice, email, and web.
  • Lead multi-team delivery efforts while balancing scope, quality, and speed.

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Establish and uphold engineering best practices in design, testing, monitoring, and code quality.
  • Mentor engineers and lead through hands-on contribution and architectural guidance.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence and cross-team collaboration.

 

About you

  • Required Qualifications
    • BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent degree.
    • Overall 10+ years of experience building robust software applications using languages such as Java, Python, Ruby, TypeScript etc.
    • Proficiency with at least one public cloud provider (Azure, AWS, GCP) and experience building cloud-native applications.
    • Hands-on experience with both NoSQL and relational databases.
    • Proven track record of building and scaling reliable, customer-facing applications.
    • Clear communicator who adapts messaging for technical and business audiences.
    • Skilled in navigating ambiguity, setting direction, and aligning teams.
    • Trusted partner to cross-functional teams with a focus on impact and outcomes.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience building responsive frontends with a strong focus on UX and component-driven design.
    • Expertise in developing AI-powered features for customer communication across chat, voice, and email.
    • Experience deploying production-grade multi-agent systems using MCP servers and prompt tuning strategies.
    • Proven ability to establish agent-level observability and system evaluation mechanisms.

Compensation at Point will be determined by skills, experience, and geographic location. Point has identified the expected annual base salary for this role at this level based on the market by tiers (Region | Location | Market Salary):

  • Tier 1 | San Francisco Bay Area, New York, Los Angeles, & Seattle | $194,400 - $291,600
  • Tier 2 | Chicago, Austin, Denver, Boston, Washington DC, San Diego | $165,600 - $248,400
  • Tier 3 | All other US metro areas | $155,200 - $232,800

This does not include any other potential components of the compensation package, including equity, benefits, and perks outlined above. At the launch of each position, we benchmark compensation to the appropriate role and level utilizing competitive compensation data from various data sources as references. At the offer stage, we use the signal we received from our interviews, coupled with your experience, location, and other job-related factors, to determine final compensation.
