Additionally, it is responsible for the data engineering, science, and products for Disney Entertainment &amp; ESPN, along with their interconnection with other parts of The Walt Disney Company. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic team, focusing on leading and overseeing the development of our data infrastructure. You will be responsible for helping implement software solutions to automate, enhance, and support our data platform, primarily leveraging Snowflake and cloud technologies. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate your expertise in software engineering, cloud data platforms, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation, while guiding the creation of a robust, scalable, and secure data ecosystem. You’ll get to understand the challenges of how data is being used at Disney’s world-class streaming services while pushing the boundaries of what is possible using the latest technologies available in AWS, Snowflake, and beyond.<h2>Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Contribute to the development and maintenance of software solutions using Python to automate and enhance the management of the Snowflake data platform, including user access, permissions, and resource utilization.</li><li>Help maintain integrations between Snowflake and other systems using Python, APIs, and Snowflake connectors, ensuring robustness and maintainability</li><li>Collaborate with the team to design and implement data models, applying advanced software engineering principles to ensure database schema design is scalable and maintainable</li><li>Help leadership mentor junior engineers through constructive code reviews, pair programming, and active knowledge sharing.</li></ul><h2>Basic Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform, CICD, or automation tools</li><li>Problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly. Extensive, production-level Python programming experience that demonstrates strong software engineering fundamentals (e.g., modularity, testing, clean code, object-oriented design). Verifiable experience building data APIs, reusable libraries, and automation frameworks is essential.</li><li>Snowflake expert, including architecture, management, and key features</li><li>Strong SQL skills, including the ability to write, debug, and optimize complex queries for large-scale datasets</li></ul><h2>Preferred Qualifications</h2><ul><li>Comprehensive understanding of data warehousing concepts and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Experience with data modeling techniques (e.g., dimensional modeling, star schema, data vault)</li><li>Expertise in designing complex systems and making key architectural decisions with reasonable trade-offs</li><li>Hands-on experience with Databricks and PySpark for large-scale data processing, ETL, or machine learning engineering. Professional experience with Apache Airflow or Prefect for managing complex, interdependent data pipelines.</li><li>Master’s Degree in Computer Science</li></ul><h2>Required Education</h2><ul><li>At least 5 years of relevant professional experience and Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field OR 3+ years of relevant professional experiences and a Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field</li></ul><h2>Additional Information</h2>#DISNEYTECH#CDIThe hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $148,700 to $199,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
