Come swim with us!</p> <p>Were looking for a Database Engineer who will specialize in the high-stakes, end-to-end migration of customer data and database systems. You will be the teams authority on data integrity, replication strategies, and minimizing downtime. Your work is central to reducing customer risk and ensuring successful final cutovers for our most valuable clients moving to the DigitalOcean platform.</p> <h2><strong>What Youll Be Doing:</strong></h2> <ul> <li>Design and execute data migration strategies for core database systems, primarily Postgres, MySQL, and MongoDB.</li> <li>Implement and manage Change Data Capture (CDC) and logical replication setups to achieve near-zero downtime cutovers.</li> <li>Work with customer data teams to ensure pre-migration schema and data validation, and post-migration performance tuning.</li> <li>Develop automated scripts and tools (in partnership with the Platform Engineering team) to simplify common migration tasks like snapshot creation and failover testing.</li> <li>Provide expert guidance on database security, high availability (HA), and disaster recovery (DR) configurations within the DigitalOcean cloud environment.</li> </ul> <h2><strong>What Well Expect From You:</strong></h2> <ul> <li>6+ years of hands-on experience as a DBA, Database Engineer, or Data Migration Specialist.</li> <li>Deep production experience with at least two of the following: Postgres, MySQL, or MongoDB.</li> <li>Expertise in replication technologies and techniques for minimizing data drift and ensuring data fidelity across platforms.</li> <li>Familiarity with cloud-native managed database services and common migration tools.</li> <li>Strong scripting skills (Python or Bash) for automation, monitoring, and validation tasks.</li> <li>Exceptional attention to detail and a customer-first mindset regarding data security and integrity.</li> </ul> <h2>Compensation Range: </h2> <ul> <li>$154,000 - $192,500</li> </ul> <p><span>*This is a remote role</span></p> <p><em><span>#LI-Remote</span></em></p> <p><em><span>#LI-SK1</span></em></p><div><h2><strong>Why You’ll Like Working for DigitalOcean</strong></h2> <ul> <li><strong>We innovate with purpose. </strong>You’ll be a part of a cutting-edge technology company with an upward trajectory, who are proud to simplify cloud and AI so builders can spend more time creating software that changes the world.
