The role, in a nutshell:   We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead our core accounting and financial reporting functions. This role will oversee the general ledger, month-end close, technical accounting, financial reporting, and more ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly analytical, and experienced in managing a broad set of corporate accounting functions. What youll do:  <ul> <li>Lead all aspects of general ledger accounting operations and oversee monthly/quarterly close processes with flux analyses and reconciliations </li> <li>Manage financial reporting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and internal reporting</li> <li>Enhance monthly/quarterly close process, automating where possible to ensure timely, accurate close cycles</li> <li>Provide expertise in technical accounting, including guidance on new accounting standards and complex transactions</li> <li>Oversee accounting for prepaids, accruals, capitalized software, and equity</li> <li>Manage tax compliance and reporting in partnership with external providers</li> <li>Establish, document, and enforce robust internal controls and accounting policies</li> <li>Partner closely with FP&amp;A, Legal, IT, and business leaders to ensure accurate and timely financial insights</li> <li>Support external audits, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of audit materials</li> <li>Oversee ERP and accounting systems, driving system improvements, automation, and integration with other SaaS tools</li> <li>Mentor and develop the accounting team, building scalable processes and supporting professional growth </li> </ul> What were looking for:  <ul> <li>CPA required; Big 4 experience strongly preferred</li> <li>10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role; experience at a high-growth tech company strongly preferred</li> <li>Deep understanding of US GAAP, technical accounting, and SEC reporting</li> <li>Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills</li> <li>Analytical and detail oriented with a track record of streamlining processes and close cycles</li> <li>Proficiency with ERP and reporting systems - experience implementing or optimizing Quickbooks and systems like Netsuite</li> <li>Preferred: Experience in public or high-growth technology companies, navigating rapid scale, SaaS financial models, and evolving accounting standards.</li> </ul><div><div><div>Base Salary Range</div><div>$185,000—$205,000 USD</div></div></div><div>About Us Chainguard is the secure foundation for software development and deployment.
