This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of database administration and site reliability engineering, with a strong focus on<span> </span><span>MySQL and PostgreSQL operational excellence</span>.</p><p></p><p>You will be responsible for <span>ensuring the reliability, performance, scalability, and security of our cloud-based database infrastructure</span>, while also contributing to broader SRE practices such as observability, automation, and deployment. You will support critical systems that power Autodesk’s platform services across AWS and Azure.</p><p></p><p><b>Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li><p>Own and operate MySQL and PostgreSQL databases (both self-managed and cloud-managed), including schema design, query tuning, replication, backups, upgrades, and failover strategies</p></li><li><p>Monitor and optimize database performance, availability, and capacity</p></li><li><p>Automate database and infrastructure operations using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or custom scripts</p></li><li><p>Participate in on-call rotations and lead incident response related to database and platform issues</p></li><li><p>Implement security best practices, including encryption, access controls, and audit logging</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with developers and platform engineers to support data-heavy applications and ensure reliable deployments</p></li><li><p>Contribute to reliability engineering efforts across CI/CD, monitoring, and infrastructure as code</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Minimum Qualifications</b></p><ul><li><p>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience</p></li><li><p>Experience managing MySQL and/or PostgreSQL in production environments</p></li><li><p>Hands-on experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, or Azure Database for MySQL/PostgreSQL</p></li><li><p>Deep knowledge of replication, backup/restore strategies, and disaster recovery planning</p></li><li><p>Strong SQL optimization and performance tuning skills</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with site reliability engineering principles including SLIs, SLOs, and automation</p></li><li><p>Proficient in scripting and automation using languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell to enhance observability capabilities and automate operational tasks</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>Preferred Qualifications</b></p><ul><li><p>Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC tools</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with container orchestration (e.g., ECS, EKS, AKS)</p></li><li><p>Experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or ELK Stack</p></li><li><p>Exposure to CI/CD tooling and practices</p></li><li><p>Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Database – Specialty or SRE training</p></li></ul><p></p><p><b>The Ideal Candidate</b></p><ul><li><p>Brings deep expertise in managing and optimizing databases and understands the operational needs of modern platforms</p></li><li><p>Thrives in cross-functional collaboration and enjoys balancing data reliability with platform scalability</p></li><li><p>Enjoys automating infrastructure and solving reliability challenges across systems</p></li></ul></div></div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p></p><p><span><b>Learn More</b></span></p></div></div></div></div></div></div></div><p></p><p><b>About Autodesk</b></p><p><span>Welcome to Autodesk! For U.S.-based roles, we expect a starting base salary between $130,900 and $211,750. Offers are based on the candidate’s experience and geographic location, and may exceed this range.
