Sophos is headquartered in Oxford, U.K. More information is available at www.sophos.com.</div><div><br /></div><div><b>Role Summary</b></div><div>As a Sr. Software Developer in the Network Security Group, you’ll play a vital role in the  development, maintenance, and enhancement of network security products used by hundreds of  thousands of customers globally. You’ll work with a cross-functional Agile/Scrum team, and be  involved in all aspects of the software development process. You’ll work closely with Product and  Development Managers, other developers, and QA Engineers to deliver high-quality security  solutions to customers. You’ll contribute to core components of the Sophos Firewall, focusing on  the web proxy and supporting systems.</div><h3>What You Will Do</h3><ul><li>Develop reliable, maintainable, and high performance software features, improvements, and bug fixes in the network security domain. </li><li>Contribute to daily stand-ups, story kick-offs, estimations, and retrospectives. </li><li>Conduct and participate in peer code reviews.</li><li>Troubleshoot and resolve customer-reported issues and software defects. </li><li>Collaborate with development, QA, and managers across teams. </li><li>Practice Test Driven Development with a strong emphasis on automated unit, component, and  integration testing. </li><li>Explore leadership opportunities based on experience and interest</li></ul><h3>What You Will Bring</h3><ul><li>5+ years of commercial software development experience.</li><li>Proficiency in C/C++ and at least one of the following: Python, Perl, or Go. </li><li>Experience working with commercial Linux-based products. </li><li>Passion for building secure and scalable network software. </li><li>Working knowledge of networking protocols (e.g. HTTP(S), FTP, TCP/IP). </li><li>Excellent software design, coding, and troubleshooting/debugging skills. </li><li>Solution-oriented approach to development and collaboration. </li><li>Familiarity with Agile development methodologies is a plus.</li><li>Experience using Test Driven Development practices is a plus.</li><li>Background in developing network security software is a plus.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in computer systems, software engineering, or related field is desirable.</li><li>Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jira and Jenkins is a plus.</li></ul><div>In Canada, the base salary for this role ranges from $105,000 to $175,000.
