The Red Hat Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Raleigh or Boston. In this role, you will contribute to the engineering of features related to the deployment and life cycle management of Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift. Youll play a specific part in defining the architecture for Kubernetes deployment infrastructure and in developing our offerings from inception, through upstream development, to delivery. What you will do:<ul><li>Play an active role in container and virtualization-related projects and communities like Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, and KubeVirt</li><li>Create and guide new feature development; contribute to open source projects in Golang, Python.</li><li>Coordinate with team leads, architects, and other engineers on the design and architecture of our offerings</li><li>Become responsible for the quality of our offerings, participate in peer code reviews and continuous integration (CI), and respond to security threats</li><li>Work with Red Hats Global Customer Support team and partner support teams on resolving customer issues</li><li>Work with the Quality Engineering (QE) team to ensure that projects are tested correctly</li><li>Publicize the teams work through blogs, web postings, or conference talks</li></ul>What you will bring:<ul><li>5+ years of experience working in a Linux environment with at least one language like Golang, Python, Java, or C or C++</li><li>Experience with a container ecosystem like Docker, Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift.</li><li>Experience with microservices architectures and concepts including APIs, versioning, monitoring, etc.</li><li>Ability to examine various technological areas deeply and deliver solutions</li><li>Debugging skills</li><li>Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English</li><li>Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent working experience</li></ul>The following are considered a plus:<ul><li>Experience with cloud development</li><li>Familiarity with virtualization, networking, or storage</li><li>Background in DevOps or site reliability engineering (SRE)</li><li>Experience with open source development</li></ul>The salary range for this position is $133,650.00 - $220,680.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay TransparencyRed Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
