You can suggest  improvements to design and approach.</li> <li>Actively improve the operability of systems and operational awareness of our teams.</li> <li>Be aware of, and contribute to refining, the engineering lore and custom (aka. culture,  policies, and procedures).</li> <li>Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle.</li> <li>Take the initiative to identify and/or fix issues before being assigned them.</li> <li>Recruitment of new Engineers (sales pitch, technical screens).</li> <li>Contribute to SRE, Operability, Architecture Reviews with other engineering teams.</li> <li>Be highly aware of the profound security and compliance ramifications of the nature of  our business (specifically our PCI compliance requirements).</li> <li>A core contributor to a Pushpay guild.</li> <li>Develop high-quality system design and architecture.</li> <li>Break down larger pieces of work into small, well-scoped pieces for other team members.</li> <li>End-to-end responsibility on features of increasing complexity.</li> <li>Make sure that more junior or new engineers unfamiliar with the tech or processes we have not only understand what they are doing, but also why they are doing it.</li> <li>Subject matter expert in one or more features of the Pushpay infrastructure stack.</li> <li>Input into technical strategy and direction of the products, systems and infrastructure  they work on.</li> <li>Work closely with engineering managers and product managers in planning, scoping and  resourcing feature work.</li> <li>Evangelizes and demonstrates good practices, both in and outside the team.</li> <li>Ensures technical activities undertaken by their team follow Pushpay engineering  practices and are adequately socialized amongst the wider engineering team.</li> <li>Ensures that architecture and design of outputs delivered by the team are aligned with  technical and product strategy.</li> <li>Communicates status and risk updates to stakeholders (including Delivery Manager,  Engineering Manager and Product Manager) in regular and timely manner.</li> <li>Cross team collaboration.</li> <li>Translating between basic business requirements and technical requirements.</li> <li>You are expected to work with Software Engineers, Quality Assistance, Product and  other parts of the business to review requirements and proposed solutions and providing input into these processes (which may include ideation, algorithms, processes and feature design) which may constitute intellectual property that belongs to Pushpay.</li> <li>Be developing software and tooling (code, algorithms, designs, processes and practices)  that is then incorporated into Pushpay products (both internal and external) and associated infrastructure which may constitute intellectual property that belongs to Pushpay.</li> </ul> What Youll Bring <ul> <li>7+ years of relevant SRE, System, or Software engineer experience; “relevant” being: Developing Internet-scale multi-user web/mobile/cloud type software products.</li> <li>Applicable tertiary qualifications.</li> <li>Strong passion for developing new software and systems that are scalable and secure.</li> <li>Fastidious in your pursuit of reliable systems.</li> <li>Keep an eye on industry trends and technology and bring new ideas to the table.</li> <li>Practical commercial knowledge of, and high proficiency with:  <ul> <li>Cloud technologies like AWS, GCP, Azure, Alibaba Cloud, OpenShift. </li> <li>Terminal command line environments like Shell, Powershell or Bash.</li> <li>A relational or document based database system.</li> <li>Web technologies - HTTP, SSL/TLS, REST APIs.</li> <li>One or more Programming Languages like .Net, Java, Python, Go, Rust, Javascript.</li> <li>DVCS for source control (preferably Git). </li> </ul> </li> <li>Familiar with AWS services.</li> <li>Some variety of bug tracking system - e.g. Jira.</li> <li>Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment practices and tooling.</li> <li>Capable of architecting and building complex solutions in software.</li> <li>Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.</li> <li>Self-manage your tasks, time and the expectations you have set.</li> <li>Generous with your time and knowledge, sharing and collaborating with others.</li> <li>Discusses work in both technical and business-impact terms.</li> </ul> Pushpay is committed to equal opportunity.
