We’re backed by industry leaders in insurance and tech, and we still have room to grow — that’s where you come in. </p> <p> </p> <p>The Next Insurance Legal Department is seeking an experienced insurance regulatory attorney, to join our highly collaborative team.  This is a key position reporting to the Associate General Counsel that will involve working closely with the business across various functions of the organization.</p> <p> </p> <p>The Legal Counsel will provide legal advice on multiple subject matter issues to internal partners within Next’s various business units and support day-to-day initiatives as well as long-term strategies. Under the guidance of the Associate General Counsel, you will also draft, review, revise, and negotiate various partnership and agency agreements.   </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>What You’ll Do:</strong>  </p> <ul> <li>Conduct multi-state and issue-specific legal research on a wide variety of topics as needed.</li> <li>Support New Law &amp; Regulation monitoring process by providing legal guidance to analysts and business partners.</li> <li>Provide general contract, regulatory, and legal support to Next’s business stakeholders, which may include, product, filings, partnership &amp; distribution, underwriting, marketing, actuarial, and finance functions. </li> <li>Provide product legal support including advising rules, rates, insurance sales disclosures, forms, and other notices that must adhere to various state statutory and regulatory requirements.</li> <li>Support and / or manage certain interactions with regulatory bodies including market conduct exams, filing objection responses, and DOI complaints responses.</li> <li>Draft, review, and negotiate various NDAs, partnership and agency agreements in collaboration with key internal business stakeholders.</li> <li>Provide legal support on various business, legal, regulatory, or compliance initiatives as they may arise.</li> <li>Assist in development and maintenance of key contract templates.</li> <li>Drive process improvement within Legal and across the organization.</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>What We Need:</strong> </p> <ul> <li>JD and admission to a state bar association in the United States in good standing.</li> <li>3+ years (Legal Counsel) or 5+ years (Senior Legal Counsel) of legal and regulatory experience in insurance preferred, ideally at a law firm, insurance company, or insurance intermediary (broker/agent). </li> <li>P&amp;C Insurance experience preferred, but will consider candidates with experience in other insurance lines of business. </li> <li>Working knowledge of the insurance regulatory environment.</li> <li>Experience drafting insurance agent agreements a plus.</li> <li>Excellent analytical and oral and written communications skills, with the ability to work as a team player and effectively communicate effectively across a number of diverse internal groups.</li> <li>Ability to appropriately prioritize a heavy workflow, and coordinate activities with colleagues to efficiently deliver results.</li> <li>Ability to operate with limited supervision on moderately complex projects.</li> </ul> <p><strong><em>Note on Fraudulent Recruiting</em></strong><br /><em>We have become aware that there may be fraudulent recruiting attempts being made by people posing as representatives of Next Insurance.
