Position Summary We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer who excels at collaboratively solving complex problems. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our Engineering Team, Product Managers, and Designers to develop innovative experiences for our internal stakeholders, primarily focusing on creating a custom lab software solution for a high-throughput laboratory. Responsibilities <ul> <li> Design, develop, and maintain scalable services that support the diverse activities of a high-throughput laboratory. </li> <li> Develop both front-end and back-end applications. </li> <li> Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using GitLab. </li> <li> Develop comprehensive unit tests to ensure high code quality. </li> <li> Collaborate closely with end-users and product managers to iterate on requirements and deliverables. </li> <li> Optimize architecture and infrastructure on the AWS cloud platform for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. </li> <li> Proactively monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, conduct thorough root cause analysis, and implement enhancements to improve efficiency and reliability. </li> <li> Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in software engineering and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. </li> <li> Be the technical lead and mentor more junior engineers. </li> </ul> Qualifications <ul> <li>7+ years of experience in developing software applications.</li> <li> Proven experience with programming languages such as Python, React, and TypeScript. </li> <li> Solid understanding of relational databases and proficiency in SQL programming, with a preference for MySQL or PostgreSQL. </li> <li> Proficiency in leveraging AWS services, including Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, and Glue. </li> <li> Proficiency in infrastructure as code (IaC). </li> <li> Proficiency in messaging frameworks such as Kafka. </li> <li> Strong quality assurance mindset with a commitment to delivering robust and reliable software. </li> <li> Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. </li> <li> Strong written and verbal communication skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective interaction with stakeholders at all levels. </li> </ul> Nice to Have <ul> <li> Experience building custom Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or Laboratory Execution Systems (LES). </li> <li> Able to visit the labs in San Carlos, CA or Austin, TX occasionally to facilitate direct observation of the software in the lab and obtain real-time user feedback. </li> </ul><div><div><div>The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years &amp; depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
