The Wealth Management (WM) Chief Data Office (CDO) sits within the WM Risk organization and strives to find the right balance between risk management and business enablement. WM CDO’s mission is to: prevent unauthorized access to or misuse of client sensitive data and assets; abide by relevant privacy laws and regulations; effectively retain, retrieve, and protect information and records; and mitigate risks caused by inaccurate, untimely, or incomplete WM data.  The Application and Infrastructure Security Team within WM CDO works to ensure that our clients’ Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is stored securely, and appropriate controls are applied across all technology assets handling sensitive data. The Application and Infrastructure Security Team provides internal expertise for business stakeholders to properly understand these tradeoffs, establish effective control requirements, monitor and validate such controls, and evaluate a highly variable threat landscape to properly calibrate a security posture.Role Description:The Application and Infrastructure Security Team seeks a Vice President to build out and support risk management capabilities native to cryptocurrency. This individual will play a crucial role in staking out the required controls in the cryptocurrency space across all relevant risk stripes (data security, cybersecurity, information management, and privacy). The candidate will serve as lead on day-to-day risk management activities across the WM cryptocurrency offering, including architecture reviews, third-party due diligence, and providing subject matter expertise to relevant business stakeholders. Additionally, this individual will be instrumental in building out any cryptocurrency-native risk management and governance enhancements as the offering matures.Key responsibilities include:<ul><li>Serving as the daily and go-to contact on cybersecurity considerations for the cryptocurrency program</li><li>Leading meetings with internal and external project stakeholders</li><li>Articulating relevant risks and considerations to senior WM business leadership</li><li>Providing detailed guidance to technology and business teams to ensure risks are effectively minimized</li><li>Developing a risk taxonomy to support cryptocurrency and additional digital asset development efforts for WM</li><li>Liaising with Morgan Stanley’s central cybersecurity organization to interpret and translate control requirements for WM business owners</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>7-12 years of relevant risk management experience</li><li>Experience with enterprise security controls and an in-depth knowledge of application and network security concepts</li><li>Experience automating tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) and data analysis tools (e.g., Dataiku, SQL)</li><li>Familiarity with cryptocurrency and distributed ledger technology and a demonstrable understanding of cybersecurity concerns</li><li>Proven track record of leading technology teams and projects</li><li>Ability to partner with external stakeholders and drive projects to completion in a large matrixed organization</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels within the organization</li><li>Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills  </li></ul>Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>Knowledge of the financial services industry; preferably in wealth management, finance, operations, or technology </li><li>Deep knowledge of cryptocurrency wallet security considerations, including architecture, key management, and distributed signing capabilities</li><li>Awareness of industry trends for both public and private blockchain networks</li></ul>WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM MORGAN STANLEY: We are committed to maintaining the first-class service and high standard of excellence that have defined Morgan Stanley for over 89 years.
