We are looking for ambitious and exceptional people to join our (relatively small) team to help us build the next generation of financial markets. <h2>Role Roadmap</h2> We’re looking for a seasoned, detail-oriented Technical Accountant to serve as a trusted expert on complex accounting issues and emerging business initiatives. You’ll lead the Company’s interpretation and application of U.S. GAAP, partner cross-functionally on high-impact projects, and ensure technical conclusions are accurate, well-reasoned, and thoroughly documented. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of accounting, strategy, and regulatory evolution, and who’s passionate about shaping accounting policy in a fast-growing environment. <h2>Key Responsibilities</h2> Technical Accounting Leadership <ul> <li>Lead the accounting evaluation for complex and emerging business initiatives, collaborating across teams to identify, assess, and resolve technical issues</li> <li> Develop well-supported conclusions and high-quality technical memos that stand up to audit and regulatory scrutiny </li> <li> Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors on technical matters, ensuring transparency and constructive dialogue </li> </ul> Accounting Standards &amp; Policy <ul> <li> Monitor and interpret new accounting guidance from the FASB and other standard-setting bodies, evaluating potential impacts on financial statements </li> <li> Lead implementation efforts for new standards and ensure consistent application across teams </li> <li> Develop, document, and maintain company-wide accounting policies, updating them as business operations and regulations evolve </li> </ul> Cross-Functional Partnership &amp; Projects <ul> <li> Partner with Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Operations to ensure accounting considerations are integrated into business decisions </li> <li> Support strategic initiatives and special projects, proactively identifying and addressing accounting implications. </li> <li> Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls </li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li> Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and active CPA (or equivalent certification) </li> <li> 5+ years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or technical accounting roles </li> <li> Strong preference for experience in financial exchanges, clearing organizations, broker-dealers/FCMs, fintech, or high-growth technology environments </li> <li> Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ability to interpret, apply, and communicate evolving guidance across varied topics </li> <li> Proven success influencing cross-functional teams and driving alignment across Accounting, Legal, Finance, and Compliance </li> <li> Analytical, structured thinker with exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills </li> <li> A lifelong learner passionate about technical accounting, regulatory change, and continuous improvement </li> </ul> <h2>Our Culture</h2> Meritocracy is at our core, and we value people who take ownership and figure (usually hard) things out. This salary range is based on the current available market data, and represents the expected salary range for this role. Kalshi has minimal hierarchy and few titles, but has broad ranges of experience represented within roles.
