In this role, you will play a critical part in designing, implementing, and maintaining the physical and virtual infrastructure that supports our on-premises data centers and integrated cloud environments. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence across our infrastructure.   Job Responsibilities <ul> <li>Design, deploy, and manage data center infrastructure, including power distribution, cooling systems, network connectivity, and server hardware.</li> <li>Serve as a subject matter expert for Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, patch management, and performance tuning.</li> <li>Maintain and troubleshoot virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V</li> <li>Configure and support Veeam Backup &amp; Replication solutions, ensuring robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery capabilities.</li> <li>Collaborate with infrastructure and platform teams to develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code (IaC) using tools like Terraform and Ansible.</li> <li>Automate infrastructure management tasks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).</li> <li>Implement and maintain robust physical and logical security measures within the data center environment.</li> <li>Monitor infrastructure performance, proactively identifying and resolving potential issues to ensure system reliability and efficiency.</li> <li>Troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues, coordinating with vendors for resolution as needed.</li> <li>Participate in the on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical infrastructure components.</li> <li>Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and operational consistency.</li> <li>Stay abreast of the latest technologies and industry best practices in data center infrastructure, virtualization, monitoring, containerization, and backup/recovery.</li> </ul>   Education, Experience, and Skills <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.</li> <li>5+ years of experience in infrastructure engineering or system administration, with 3+ years focused on Windows Server environments.</li> <li>Hands-on experience with Windows Server administration (Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, GPO, WSUS, file/print services).</li> <li>Strong understanding of core data center components: power, cooling, networking, and server hardware.</li> <li>Proficiency with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V.</li> <li>Experience implementing and managing Veeam Backup &amp; Replication.</li> <li>Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Ansible.</li> <li>Familiarity with scripting and automation in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.</li> <li>Solid understanding of networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching).</li> <li>Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Veeam ONE.</li> <li>Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.</li> <li>Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with the capacity to work independently and within cross-functional teams</li> </ul>   Preferred Qualifications: <ul> <li>Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes</li> <li>Knowledge of Linux administration (to complement Windows expertise)</li> <li>Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.</li> <li>Exposure to cloud computing platforms, including Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).</li> <li>Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, Veeam Certified Engineer, CompTIA Server+, CCNA).</li> </ul>   Acknowledgements The above job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and standards of the position.  Incumbents will follow any other instructions, and perform any other related duties, as assigned by their supervisor.       <div>~ Science - Minded, Patient - Focused.  At GeneDx, we create, follow, and are informed by cutting-edge science.
