This position will be a hybrid office (3 days in-office, 2 days remote) role as long as you live within 50 miles of our Raleigh, NC facility. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. <div><div><div><h2>What you’ll do:</h2></div><div>The Lead Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supervising the mechanical design and development of product lines, contributing to project design, development, and prototype production. This role is essential in a cross-functional team, making key design decisions for integration. The Lead Mechanical Engineer mentors junior staff, researches, evaluates, and documents design methods to meet standards and codes, and supports management throughout development. In this role you will: •    Successfully launch critical power infrastructure products that meet customer requirements and Eaton safety, quality, reliability, cost, and schedule commitments. •    Work with cross-functional engineering teams to define requirements and create mechanical systems considering space, manufacturing, service, thermal, and other design considerations. •    Leverage your skill and experience by giving guidance to other technical project team members and review other team members designs and provide feedback. •    Work with global product development teams to solve problems related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality, and component availability. •    Develop and support building of engineering and validation prototypes as well as support manufacturing personnel during launch process. •    Leverage in-depth knowledge of industry design principles around sheet metal, plastics, and other manufacturing methods •    Exceptional problem-solving skills working to design and layout systems while engaging cross functional teams to identify optimal layout while balancing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and long-term serviceability. •    Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents.  •    Work closely with regulatory experts to ensure design meet UL and other certification body requirements. •    Identify opportunities for process, tools, and test methodology improvements, and drive those from concept to implementation.</div></div><div><div><h2>Qualifications:</h2></div><div>Required (Basic) Qualifications:<ul><li>Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution with Minimum Five (5) years of experience in Mechanical Design OR a Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution with a Minimum of Three (3) years work experience in mechanical design</li></ul> Preferred Qualifications:<ul><li>MastersDegree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.</li><li>Experience developing large scale power electronics from concept to manufacturing launch.</li><li>Experience with power distribution system design and protection.</li><li>Experience working with multi-kW lithium ion energy storage systems including battery management and products designed for outdoor or non-climate controlled environments.</li><li>In depth knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) techniques.</li><li>Experience with thermal and structural simulations.</li><li>Experience with sheet metal design, BoM creation and reading electrical diagrams.</li></ul></div></div><div><div><h2>Skills:</h2></div><div>Position Criteria:<ul><li>Problem Solving - Uses rigorous logic and critical thinking to solve difficult problems with effective solutions, Is excellent at honest analysis, Looks beyond the obvious and doesnt stop at the first answers.</li><li>Decision quality – makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience, and judgment.</li><li>Drive for results – can be counted on to exceed goals successfully with a strong sense of urgency.</li><li>Continuous Learner – Actively seeks out new and innovative ways to solve problems</li><li>Mentor – can work with less experienced engineers and designer to provide meaningful feedback about design implications.</li><li>Communication - discuss technical concepts and information to internal staff/peers and stakeholders, strong verbal and written documentation, and interpersonal communication skills.</li></ul> #LI-JM3</div></div></div>We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
