If you’re driven to make a meaningful impact, we invite you to join us in reshaping the future of mental healthcare.   About the Role As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our core services and libraries, cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks. You will work closely with other Platform and DevOps, product, security, data, and ML engineers to ensure high availability, optimal system performance, secure and cost-effective infrastructure, and smooth deployments. Our product engineering teams deploy to production more than 20 times a week on average using trunk-based development. We currently work in Scrumban-style 2-week sprints. Our teams work hybrid (required if in NY) and remotely across time zones but are available during core meeting hours (12PM to 5PM EST). Responsibilities <ul> <li>Develop and maintain our core services and libraries in Python, Typescript, and Golang</li> <li>Architect, build, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using Terragrunt and OpenTofu (Terraform).</li> <li>Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions to streamline deployments and improve developer productivity.</li> <li>Automate infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and scaling using tools like Bash, Golang, and Python.</li> <li>Implement security best practices across infrastructure and pipelines, including IAM, networking, and HIPAA compliance controls.</li> <li>Work alongside product engineering teams to deliver services that require new foundational platform capabilities.</li> <li>Drive reliability, scalability, observability, security, and cost-efficiency improvements across our deployed services.</li> <li>Provide options around key initiatives and break down work into visible and achievable milestones, delivering incremental value.</li> <li>Mentor and train other engineers throughout the organization and seek to continually improve architecture and processes</li> <li>Improve developer velocity and happiness by identifying and abstracting common functionality and listening to feedback from the rest of engineering.</li> <li>Participate in on-call rotations to ensure system availability and timely incident resolution.</li> <li>Please note: candidates located within 75 minutes commuting distance of our NYC office are expected to come to office 4 days/week</li> </ul> Requirements <ul> <li>3+ years of experience in a Platform, DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering role.</li> <li>2+ years of experience writing production-level backend code.</li> <li>2+ years of expertise with AWS services (ECS Fargate, Lambda, S3, Aurora, SQS, Eventbridge, EC2, ECR, etc.).</li> <li>Proficiency with tools like Python, Golang, or Typescript.</li> <li>Strong proficiency in Terraform/OpenTofu for infrastructure as code.</li> <li>Experience with CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.</li> <li>Strong understanding of containerization (Docker) and orchestration tools.</li> <li>Experience with observability, monitoring, and logging tools such as Datadog, Honeycomb, Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, Sumologic, and OpsGenie.</li> <li>Proven track record of breaking down large problems and delivering incremental value to meet deadlines while providing options for long-term improvements.</li> <li>Passion for automation, scalability, and building secure, cost-effective, self-healing systems.</li> <li>Ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems</li> <li>Hands-on experience participating in an on-call rotation, responding to and resolving critical infrastructure and application issues promptly.</li> <li>Strong communication and problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.</li> <li>Please note that members of this team who live within 45 minutes of a Charlie Health office are expected to adhere to a hybrid work schedule.</li> </ul> Nice-to-Have <ul> <li>Experience with large cloud or monolith to microservices migrations.</li> <li>Solid experience with Linux system administration, networking, and security best practices.</li> <li>Familiarity with AI-enabled developer productivity tooling.</li> <li>Background in SDET, QA, or Performance Testing.</li> </ul> <h3>Benefits </h3> Charlie Health is pleased to offer comprehensive benefits to all full-time, exempt employees. Read more about our benefits here. The total target base compensation for this role will be between $150,000 and $200,000 per year at the commencement of employment. Please note, pay will be determined on an individualized basis and will be impacted by location, experience, expertise, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
