What you’ll do As the engineering manager for the FinCrime team, you will lead &amp; support an incredible team responsible for fraud and compliance at Brex. You’ll also be responsible for the ML Infra needed to prevent fraud in a timely manner. Our goal is to build customer friendly, yet secure fraud and compliance experiences throughout our product. We’re looking for a servant leader who values growing the people on their teams alongside a strong desire to develop collaborative &amp; effective organizations. Where you’ll work This role will be based in our New York office. You must be willing to work in office at least 2 days per week on Wednesday and Thursday. Employees will be able to work remotely for up to 4 weeks per year. Responsibilities <ul> <li>Build, lead, and grow a successful engineering team alongside a commitment to recruiting great talent. Recruiting is everyone’s responsibility at Brex. </li> <li>Develop &amp; drive a robust fraud strategy that protects Brex’s customers while minimizing friction.</li> <li>Own Brex’s ML Infrastructure, a key outcome of which is to detect and react to fraud signals.</li> <li>Be responsible for Brex’s compliance strategy and product experiences.</li> <li>Set direction for engineering team strategy, share context by elaborating the “why”, empower everyone to achieve their best work, and drive execution of projects while setting clear expectations. </li> <li>Guide teams to build and deliver high quality products at scale against tight timelines while encouraging creativity. </li> <li>Inspire a collaborative culture and uphold Brex’s values alongside high engineering standards to bring consistency to the codebases, infrastructure, and processes.</li> </ul> Requirements <ul> <li>2+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role managing individuals on teams.</li> <li>Experience as an engineering leader in the fraud or risk domain.</li> <li>Strong and effective communication with an ability to convey complex ideas in a simple manner, apply active listening when working with others, and drive teams to resolutions during discussions.</li> <li>Experience driving initiatives across entire engineering organizations and cross-functional teams while setting clear expectations, timelines, and direction.</li> <li>A proven track record of building cultures that encourage ambition and foster empathy. You will create and contribute to a healthy and collaborative culture that showcases Brex’s values.</li> <li>Proven experience in designing, developing, and deploying AI solutions to solve real problems.</li> <li>You lead by example and aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves and dive into the team’s work to fill gaps as needed.</li> <li>You have high engineering standards and bring consistency and reliability to the codebases, infrastructure, and processes.</li> </ul> Bonus points <ul> <li>Experience working with compliance to build product experiences.</li> <li>Experience with Hex, Snowflake, and Retool.</li> <li>Experience in ML Infra.</li> <li>You have started your own technology venture or were a foundational engineering member of an early-stage start up. However, the starting base pay will depend on a number of factors including the candidate’s location, skills, experience, market demands, and internal pay parity.
