About AirGarage

AirGarage is on a mission to bring real estate online, starting with parking.

We replace broken parking machines, fragmented software, and manual, labor-intensive operations with a unified, data-rich operating system for parking real estate. We handle everything it takes to run and optimize a parking asset: payments, dynamic pricing, enforcement, license plate recognition, analytics, and more.

By building all of our technology in-house, we are able to deliver a magical experience for drivers while providing real-time visibility and revenue increases of 20-50% or more for real estate owners. That’s why national real‑estate leaders like Hines and Greystar, as well as technology companies like Meta, partner with AirGarage to optimize their parking facilities.

AirGarage uses datapoints like real-time occupancy, local events, weather, driver behavior, competitor pricing, and more to bring true intelligence to real estate owners’ assets for the first time.

We’re investing aggressively to make the physical world legible to a digital system: cameras, sensors, and software that generate a firehose of real-time data about the world around us. That data fuels models and algorithms that allow us to optimize performance at each property while giving owners the clarity and control they’ve never had before.

Before you can optimize an asset, you need to observe it. Before you can observe it, you need to bring it online.

We are starting with the $131 billion US parking real estate market because it is one of the most offline and mismanaged commercial real estate asset types. 26% of the land area in the median American urban core is dedicated to parking.

We are backed by top tier investors including Headline Growth, Andreessen Horowitz, Floodgate, Founders Fund, Abstract Ventures, and angel investors who have founded or worked at companies like Uber, Opendoor, Flexport, and more.

The Role

As our Product Designer, you’ll own the experience layer of how drivers, property owners, and parking managers interact with our platform from mobile apps to dashboards.

You’ll work across the full design lifecycle: from hearing customer accounts firsthand to wireframes to polished UI, shipping intuitive, accessible, and efficient designs that serve a wide range of users, including those who are not always tech-savvy.

You’ll be responsible for extending and evolving our existing design system. Your work will ensure visual and functional consistency across the entire product ecosystem, while solving real-world problems with speed and empathy.

The ideal candidate is practical, fast-moving, and user-obsessed. You should be comfortable working in ambiguity, shipping iteratively, and collaborating closely with engineering and product to move quickly and make meaningful impact.

Who You are

  • You design for humans first. Whether someone is 17 or 70, you care about creating intuitive, frustration-free experiences. You understand that accessibility and clarity aren’t optional.

  • You love complex problems. Parking is messy. Each location has a different set of challenges and rules. You thrive on untangling it all and designing interfaces that make it feel simple and obvious.

  • You think in flows, not just screens. You’re always looking at the bigger picture: how users move through a journey, where they get stuck, and how to smooth their path with thoughtful interaction design.

  • You’re a systems thinker. Dashboards are your playground. You know how to structure data visually, prioritize information, and create reusable components that make scaling easy.

  • You collaborate like a pro. You speak dev, work well with PMs, and get joy from user interviews. Feedback doesn’t scare you.

  • You have taste and humility. You bring beautiful design to life, but you’re not going to die on every hill. You’re willing to compromise in favor of what actually works for users.

  • You’re proactive, not passive. You don’t wait for perfect specs. You ask questions, propose solutions, and take initiative to push the work forward even when there’s ambiguity.

What You Will Do

  • Design user-friendly experiences for both mobile apps and web dashboards that help people find, manage, and monetize parking regardless of their tech savviness or age.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Operations to translate real-world user needs into clean, effective design solutions.

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that balance user goals, technical constraints, and business objectives.

  • Run usability tests and gather feedback from diverse users including parking seekers and property owners to validate design choices and uncover blind spots.

  • Build and maintain a scalable design system to ensure visual and functional consistency across all interfaces, from driver apps to owner dashboards.

  • Simplify complex data and workflows like occupancy trends, permit management, and revenue reports into clear, digestible visuals.

  • Own the end-to-end design process from discovery to delivery, iterating quickly and adjusting based on real usage data and team feedback.

  • Review engineering PRs and implementations to ensure designs are built accurately and consistently. When things are off, you won’t just point it out - you’ll clearly communicate how to fix it.

What You Need

  • 6+ years of experience as a Product Designer working on web or mobile applications, ideally in real estate, B2B SaaS, or marketplace businesses.

  • Expertise in Figma you’re comfortable owning end-to-end design workflows, from wireframes to high-fidelity prototypes.

  • Strong visual and interaction design skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates clean, user-centered design solutions.

  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and other team members to ship high-impact features.

  • Comfort with user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and iterate quickly.

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain your design rationale clearly and advocate for the user.

  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize effectively, and thrive in a fast-paced environment without a set playbook.

Why This Role May Not Be For You 🚨

We want to be upfront: this role won’t be the right fit for everyone. If you’re looking for a calm, pixel-perfect design job with slow timelines and minimal friction, this probably isn’t it.

Here’s why you might not want this job:

  • You optimize for perfection instead of shipping. We value clean, thoughtful design, but if you obsess over corner radius debates or spend days renaming Figma layers, you’ll struggle here. We need momentum, not perfection.

  • You want to reinvent everything from scratch. We already have a design system in place, and it works. Your job is to build on it, extend it thoughtfully, and help create a cohesive design language that can scale to reach hundreds of thousands of users.

  • You’re strongly invested in your ideas and need support in embracing outside perspectives. We believe the best design comes from open collaboration and a willingness to iterate. Embracing feedback and exploring alternatives helps us all grow and create stronger work.

  • You prefer long design cycles with deep research and documentation. We move fast and value learning through real-world testing, even if that means getting scrappy (like testing ideas in a parking lot). If you enjoy rapid prototyping and getting early feedback, youll fit right in. This pace might feel challenging to some.

  • You need crystal-clear requirements and minimal ambiguity. This role requires initiative. Specs will sometimes be fuzzy. This is the place for you if you thrive in high agency environments.

  • You expect a large design team or lots of design support. You’ll likely be our only (or one of few) designers for now. If you need a full research team, motion specialist, and a design ops lead to do your best work, this won’t be the right fit.

Why This Role is Exciting 🚀

  • You’ll shape real impact. Your work won’t sit in a Figma file, it will ship fast, be seen by users, and directly influence key product and business outcomes.

  • Contribute to and evolve a living design system. Rather than starting from scratch, you’ll work within a strong foundation and help scale a cohesive design language across the product.

  • Autonomy with support. You’ll have the freedom to lead design decisions in your area, while collaborating closely with experienced cross-functional partners.

  • A product-focused culture. Design isn’t an afterthought here. Your voice will matter at the table, from discovery to launch.

  • Opportunity to grow. As we scale, so will you. This is a chance to step into more ownership and strategic influence as the company and team expand.
