Position Summary
- Become a trusted advisor to Senior and Executive Leaders on categories that fall under Professional Services
- These categories include but are not limited to categories and sub-categories that fall within and under, Human Resources, Media, Legal, Finance, Treasury, Marketing, Consulting, Other.
- Become embedded in all meetings and reviews – become part of the team as a representative from Indirect Procurement. One day this could be Legal another day it could be Finance.
- Experience and knowledge of various categories, suppliers, process, trends, pricing models, among other category related knowledge.
- Experience in the development and delivery of annual category plans with Senior and Executive Leadership thus supporting their business objectives.
- Ability to quickly learn, learn the organizations, process and procedures, and Zoetis brands.
- Ability to quickly learn various categories as it relates to pricing models, performance analytics, category terminology, and category specific terminology.
- Participate in all Indirect Procurement meetings, initiatives, process improvements.
- You may be asked to lead/drive other department initiatives for the overall betterment of the Indirect Procurement team – special projects.
Position Responsibilities
- Understand and capture business plans and budgets as needed to ensure global category strategies are aligned to support business needs and are effectively supporting business outcomes, data, and insights.
- Leverage knowledge of external supplier marketplace to curate supplier solutions for the business in alignment with business outcome needs specifically as it related to Professional Services categories. Understand the various functions, business intelligence, rate card benchmark, and SOW capabilities, processing and redlining MSA’s, and working with legal to process legal documents.
- Leverage deep category knowledge and external market ecosystems to develop a global category strategy that can meet regional and local needs and is aligned to various functional business partner requirements.
- Understand, to an in-depth degree, the negotiation levers and associated savings percentage that could be had if these levers where to be implemented in a negotiation strategy as it related to various professional services categories.
Supplier Relationship Management:
- Oversee the rationalization and selection of suppliers that meet business requirements at the optimal total cost, with preferred supplier identification.
- Coordinate with other Category Strategy Partners to understand supplier performance across business units and leverage inputs to effectively manage supplier relationships.
- Manage and optimize the category supply base, preferred suppliers, and track supplier performance (KPIs, SLA tracking.).
- Identify, build, and maintain mutually beneficial relationships, partnerships, and alliances with select suppliers.
Advance Category Management Best Practices:
- Continuously develop category and procurement knowledge through self-development, training, and market research.
- Continuously refine category strategies to meet evolving product portfolio and business needs.
- Encourage and champion external research, benchmarking, and involvement in professional networks as a means of strengthening capabilities via the adoption of professional services best practices.
- Foster internal and external (supplier-led) innovation.
- Leverage deep knowledge of category management, supplier capabilities and the commercial lifecycle to continuously bring ideas and opportunities to business leaders and participate in relevant innovation forums.
Organizational Relationships
- The Lead, Indirect Procurement, Professional Services will interact and continuously develop relationships with various functional business partners. This may include, but not limited to, functions such as HR, Legal, Media, Finance, Treasury, Offshore Center of Excellence, Marketing, Enabling Functions, Commercial, Travel, and others. External interaction will be with the supplier base who support and provide services to Zoetis.
- This position will work with others in the Indirect Procurement team, participating in weekly and other meetings, learning various Procurement Technology, e.g. Ariba, Globality, SAP, Power BI, SharePoint, and the Microsoft Office Suite to name a few.
Education & Experience
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree – Masters Preferred
- Minimum of 5 to 8 years of various Professional Services Category experience; ten plus years of experience preferred.
- Pharma industry experience is a plus, however not required
Technical Skills Requirements
- Category Management experience – Specifically Professional Services in the categories listed above.
- Experience Developing annual category plans in concert with functional stakeholders.
- Proven ability to develop and manage relationships.
- Experience managing and driving supplier Quarterly Business Reviews.
- Track record of self-development - continuous desire to learn the various Professional Services categories, market research, benchmarking.
- Ability to take a consultative approach to managing various categories with various stakeholders.
- Weekly updates to projects, meaningful status, action items, and challenges.
- Deep knowledge of the market players, new entrants, changes to the industry, know technologies impact to the categories (AI and Other), and industry specific nuances.
- Presentation compilation and delivery - develop analytics and stakeholder presentations.
- Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, raises their hands and volunteers,
- Comfort working in a fast paced environment and with ambiguity
Physical Position Requirements
- Hybrid working environment, with approximately 50% of time (2-3 work days per week) required on-site at the company’s headquarters office in Parsippany, NJ.
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally when needed (up to approximately 5%-10% travel).
- Ability to work with global teams located in multiple time zones.
- Location: Parsippany, NJ preferred. Remote candidates may also be considered.
The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to
be located in Colorado. Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.
Base Pay Range: $111,000 - $160,000
The following base pay range reflects the anticipated base pay for this position if a selected candidate were to be located in New Jersey, California, NJ Remote, NY Remote, or Washington. Base pay may vary based on location and other factors.
Base Pay Range: $126,000 - $181,000
This position is eligible for short-term incentive compensation. The position is also eligible for long-term incentive.
