<h2>Job Description</h2>Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack Engineering – Data and AnalyticsWe are seeking a highly skilled software engineer to join our growing core Data and Analytics team. This position offers remote flexibility and works primarily aligning with Pacific Standard Time.Zendesk’s AI native data and analytics platform is built on top of proprietary memory graphs learned from analysts’ own interactions, supporting agentic and narrative driven insight discovery. Our team’s mission is to deliver a trusted and explainable analytics platform that is critical for customers to grow their businesses.The data and analytics core engineering team focuses on developing analytics capabilities on top of Zendesk’s customer data. We regularly evaluate existing and potential new datasets and are continually curious about how we can enhance our platform’s analytics and measurement functions.In this role, you will embrace, extend, and maintain our codebase using excellent engineering practices.<h3>What you’ll be doing</h3><ul><li>Utilize Java and Maven/Spring toolchain to work on a trusted backend codebase</li><li>Apply TypeScript and React on an established front-end codebase that users rely on</li><li>Build new capabilities within the platform by leveraging existing systems at Zendesk</li><li>Deploy your code to production, enhancing the experience for millions of Zendesk users</li><li>Collaborate closely with a focused team of experienced engineers—supporting, challenging, and learning from one another</li><li>Partner with the Technical Lead and Product Manager to shape the team’s roadmap</li><li>Foster innovation and contribute to continuously improving the team’s well-being and efficiency</li></ul><h3>What you bring to the role</h3><ul><li>A solid understanding of analytics and the analytics space</li><li>A minimum of 6+ years of experience as an engineer working on full stack solutions, primarily focused on Java platforms</li><li>Strong understanding of Maven/Spring with widely accepted patterns and practices in Java development</li><li>Expertise in understanding and extending an existing codebase</li><li>Knowledge of data and ETL pipelines and processes and usage of Spark</li><li>Strong problem-solving skills combined with comfort tracing behavior across multiple layers and technology stacks</li><li>Ability to lead, collaborate, and partner effectively across engineering teams and functions</li><li>Experience supporting distributed systems, along with knowledge of Linux internals and administration</li><li>Excellent listening skills coupled with the confidence to contribute ideas and speak up</li></ul><h3>Tech Stack</h3><ul><li>Java</li><li>Maven</li><li>Spring</li><li>Spark</li><li>TypeScript</li><li>React</li><li>Kubernetes</li><li>Linux AMIs on AWS</li><li>AWS services including Elasticache, Redis, and DynamoDB</li></ul>As part of our commitment to fairness and transparency, we inform all applicants that artificial intelligence (AI) or automated decision systems may be used to screen or evaluate applications for this position, in accordance with Company guidelines and applicable law.The US annualized base salary range for this position is $164,000.00-$246,000.00. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives.
