Remote Work: Hybrid
In this technical leadership role, you will manage an electrical design and development team empowering them to design and support Zebra printing products throughout the entire product life cycle for worldwide release. You may represent Zebra in supplier meetings, program kickoffs, project definition, while being aligned to the long-term department strategy. You will oversee the development of Zebra products and strategic engineering initiatives. You will have the opportunity to make an impact on the products we develop while building a strong and nimble engineering organization that will contribute significantly to Zebra’s global product portfolio.
Manages a team of 8+ engineers and/or technicians
This is a hybrid role:
3 days in Lincolnshire, IL office
2 days remote
Responsibilities:
- Oversees staffing, training and supervision of engineers and or technicians to include: policy interpretation and enforcement, workload distribution, assists with performance evaluations and managing employee relations while ensuring engineering schedules, customer needs and quality standards are met in a timely fashion
- Ensures the success and development of individuals on the project team by defining clear expectations, providing timely and specific feedback, and holding others accountable.
- In alignment with the needs of the business, develops the capabilities of your team through: assignments to product and technology development programs, cross-site and cross business unit collaboration, coaching and mentoring opportunities, professional development and formal training and by providing timely and specific feedback.
- Accompanies Sales and Marketing on customer inquiries and visits in a supporting role.
- Monitors performance and work with other members of the engineering department to create electrical design solutions that meet company directions and customer requirements.
- Provides leadership to solve problems through utilization of comprehensive root cause analysis techniques.
- Recommends and implement new hardware and software design platforms, architecture, and utilities to achieve strategic company goals.
- Identifies relevant technology to facilitate maintenance/enhancement of existing/new designs.
- Identifes new technologies to enhance and cost-reduce product.
- Writes clear, concise and thorough test procedures, so DVT technician(s) are enabled to verify that the design satisfies all product requirements.
- Ensures designs and processes satisfy Zebras quality standards, and are implemented in a timely and cost effective manner.
- Creates and maintains project schedules and report on project status, activities and issues.
- Works with customers, other engineers, Sales and Marketing to understand project or customer requirements and translate these into solutions.
- Works with Quality, Service and Manufacturing organizations to ensure that Zebra products are delivered and maintained to the highest standards possible.
- Participates in definition and implementation of Company directed initiatives to help meet corporate objectives.
- Maintain department budget that is aligned with strategic business goals.
- Participates in design review meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualification:
- BS in Electrical Engineering is required. MS preferred.
- Minimum 8+ years electrical design experience, 5 years management experience.
- Must have familiarity with design analysis and simulation tools (i.e. Crosstalk).
Preferred Qualification:
- Excellent demonstrated people management skillset.
- VHDL design experience desired.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, MS DOS, UNIX, and other operating
systems is required. - Knowledge of C, C++ helpful.
- Knowledge of scheduling software such as Microsoft Project is also desired
to accurately estimate project timeframes. - Strong communication skills are also required

Salary: USD 136100.00 - USD 204100.00 Yearly
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job-related skills, knowledge, and experience.
Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long-term incentive equity awards.
